Hello hello everyone,

It's your boy Daniel (art name Aidos Arts) again bidding you welcome to another series with me. Today I'll be briefly showing you the various ways in which you can be able to draw and render basic animals you might have seen or come across or even heard of but don't know how to draw.

In today's tutorial, I will show you the common step I have come to learn and use to construct my various types of animals based on their body build-up or structure. Basically, after going through today's tutorial, you should be able to know how to draw your animal or pet using simple common shapes to structure your pet animals with a very realistic appearance.

Today's course is titled:

Tips to using simple mode to sketch & render your cute pets

🔸🔸🔸

By understanding the fundamental shapes and proportions that make up each animal, you can create a solid foundation for your drawings.

In today's study pattern we'll start with

decision-making, use of shape guidelines, and simple outlines, understanding of what situation makes our pets more cute and we will then gradually progress to adding details,

ensuring that you feel confident in your ability to bring these creatures to life into the digital world of art.

Also, I would like to advise that if you find it difficult to draw furry and other animalistic features like claws, tails, and the rest, then I really do advise you to read through today's article carefully.

2) My step-by-step process: to draw cute pets with the aid of basic shapes using CSP simple mode

This is a complex method of drawing our pets that allows for a clear and structured approach to drawing, making it easier for beginners to understand the fundamentals of animal shapes.

I can remember when I was a beginner (& a newbie) drawing digitally back then; with studio mode, I found it to be a great hustle for me. I can also remember that when I started using digital software for the first time, I often find the various CLIP STUDIO PAINT tools in STUDIO MODE to be very difficult when I tried to use them to draw anything for that matter because of the complexity of the tools and clustered items in the very art software (in that of the STUDIO MODE), which in a sense often made me feel reluctant and unwilling to use the software due to me not having any understanding of the various tools, and basically, I was overwhelmed back then. But recently, Clip Studio released a feature that has been of great help to beginners, which is known as the SIMPLE MODE, and with this Simple Mode, you can be able to feel free and use the few handy features it provides for beginners.

🔸🔸🔸

To better understand what simple mode is all about and how you can go about using it, I advise you to go through this article below; it will better explain what simple mode is all about.

🖇️🖇️🖇️

Now, I have broken down my pet drawing process into the following [7] basic steps:

Using the CSP SIMPLE MODE I just mentioned above, I will be showing the various step-by-step breakdowns of my animals or pets drawing process with the aid of basic shape components (like squares, circles, and triangular shapes, among others). These steps will help you, as a beginning or old artist, gradually build your skills and confidence on how to lay out the proportions of your pet when you draw them from different angles.

🔸🔸🔸

Step 1: Do research using some animal reference photos to understand and know what works.

Step 2: Outline your animal with simple shapes.

Step 3: Decide what “cute” means to you or the moments to which your animal/pets make you go "awwww!"

Step 4: use of the [Simple Mode] to draw out a rough sketch of the pets illustration

STEP 5: Adding of flat colors using [Simple Mode].

STEP 6: use of CSP asset materials for adding details process with [Simple Mode].

STEP 7: Refining stage and the use of color lines to add fur markings.

STEP 1: Do research using some animal reference photos to understand and know what works.

This foundational step helps you grasp the anatomy, proportions, and details of the animals you wish to depict. By studying reference photos, you can enhance your artistic skills and achieve more realistic representations.

🔸🔸🔸

Use of reference photos for study can help greatly enhance your understanding of the animal's features and characteristics, which is crucial for effective drawing.

To get the reference photo, you can try downloading some images from Pinterest or Google, or even better, take a personal photo of your pets and then use your printer or a commercial printer to print the images of your pets,

🔸🔸🔸

then use a mark pen or any thick pen you may have to draw out the various shapes the body of the pet depicts, also make sure to start with the biggest parts of the pets body like the torso and head for example.

🔸🔸🔸

Afterwards, you will notice that when you look closely at the printed reference image of our animals or pets, some large chunky body parts of our animals can be defined using the various basic shapes required to draw the pet on top of the printed image.

🔸🔸🔸

Please Note 🔹 the way I break down this body part of this various animals are based on my own understanding and how I would able to understand and lay it out when I'm drawing them.

Also I did not insist that everyone should go ahead and use this method all I am trying to pass across is this that you can go ahead and use your image and break the animals down to your own understanding using shapes as your reference guide, I just hope this has been understood.

And with that, we will notice that we can't draw our animals without using our basic shapes.

And with we now knowing that the body shape of an animal can be depict or structure using shaped and that we can use reference photo to help us understand the different shape required for the body structure,

I will for us to move on to the digital practical breakdown study aspect of today's tutorial, which in turn tends to involve how I use this various simple basic shapes to structure or breakdown the various body parts of my animals or pets which also in turn helps me maintain or keep both the proportions and heights of these animals consistent.

Also note🔹to continuously practice this aspect to the point that it builds up to become muscle memory.

STEP 2: Outline your animal with simple shapes.

This technique helps to break down complex forms into manageable components, making it easier to capture the essence of the animal. Simplifying the outline allows artists to focus on proportion and structure before adding details.

I normally like breaking the form of my animals using the sideway view, whereas I can easily allocate different shapes for the various body parts of the animals.

Take, for example:

The guinea pig below which we can draw it structure using this [3] BASIC STEPS;

My Outlining process of Guinea pigs

Step I: using shapes like

The Square shape - to outline the head of the guinea pig.

The Big circle shape - is used to outline the chest and stomach areas of the guinea pig.

Meanwhile,

The Small circle shape - is used to outline the back areas of the guinea pig.

And lastly,

The lines - at the bottom part of the guinea pig tend act are the limbs.

🔸🔸🔸

Step II:

The triangular shape - is used to structure the both ears and eyes of the guinea pig.

Meanwhile,

The small circles shape - can be used again to structure the mouths and nose areas, also it can be used to structure the top part of the front limbs.

As shown above.

Next,

Step III: simply involves

The triangular shape - which is used the structure the various limbs of the guinea pig and piece together the various part of the guinea pig still left out.

Also as shown in the above image.

Next, I move on to combining the outlined shapes into a cohesive form, ensuring that the overall structure accurately represents the animal's anatomy.

🔸🔸🔸

My Outlining process of Ferrets

This step involves breaking down the ferret's form into basic geometric shapes, which helps in accurately capturing its proportions and structure. By starting with simple shapes such as

For number [1],

- Curved edge square shape: representing the head portion.

- Balloon-like circle shape: representing abdomen and feet of the ferret.

- Lines: representing the connection between the various shape block in.

Meanwhile,

For number [2],

- Curved edge triangular shape: used to represent the mouth and ears areas.

- Balloon like circle shape: which represents front and backward limbs of the ferret.

🔸🔸🔸

For number [3],

- Curved edge rectangular shape: is used to represent both the neck and tail of the ferret.

As shown in the above image.

With the various shapes now used to structure the form of the ferret as in [4], we can then now easily refine and add details as you progress in your drawing as in [5].

🔸🔸🔸

Now,

My Outlining process for the Cats

This tends to be different due to the body structure of the cat which can break down using the following basic shapes;

For number [1],

- Rectangular shape: representing the abdomen of the cat.

- Circle shape: is used for the representation of the head.

- Square shape: is used to represent all the feet of the cat.

- then the Lines: as I have previously mentioned shows the points to which the various shapes should be connected.

For number [2],

- Square shape: is used to represent the mouth portion of the head.

- Triangular shape: is used to represent the both pointy ears of the cat.

- Circle shape: is used to represent the topper parts of the cat's front and back limbs.

🔸🔸🔸

For number [2],

- Square shape: is used to represent the neck area.

- Rectangular shape: is used to represent the four lengthy portions of the cat limbs.

- Straight like balloon circle shape: is used to represent the tail of the cat .

As shown in the above image.

With the various shapes now used to structure the form of the cat as in [4], we can then now easily refine and add details as you progress in your drawing as in [5].

🔸🔸🔸

Next,

My Outlining process of Dogs

This process involves organizing key ideas and details about dogs in a structured format. By outlining, I can clearly present information about their breeds, behaviors, and care requirements.

For number [1],

- Rectangular shape: is used to represent the back part of the dog's abdomen.

- Circle shape: is used to represent the head and front part of the dog's abdomen.

- Square shape: is used to represent the feet of the dog.

- and the Line: is used to connect the above mentioned parts of the dog together.

For number [2],

- Triangular shape: is used to represent the dog's pointy ears.

- The Square shape: is used to represent the mouth and nose areas of the dog.

- The Circle shape: is used to represent the upper parts of the dog's limbs.

🔸🔸🔸

For number [3],

-The Square shape: is used to represent the neck of the dog.

- The Balloon like circle shape: is used to represent the tail of the dog.

- The Rectangle shape: is used to represent the lower parts of the dog's limbs.

As shown in the above image.

Now as previously mentioned, this various shapes are used to structure the form of the dog as in [4], we can then now easily refine and add details as you progress in your drawing as in [5].

🔸🔸🔸

My Outlining process of Kangaroos

This process similarly organizes important information about kangaroos, ensuring that details regarding their heights, body arrangement, and more are systematically arranged. This structured approach helps convey the unique characteristics of kangaroos effectively.

For number [1],

- The Square shape: is used to represent the Head of the kangaroo.

- The Circle shape: is used to represent the entire abdomen of the kangaroo.

- and the Lines: in this aspect is used to show the positions of the kangaroo's limbs.

For number [2],

- The Rectangular shape: is used to represent the curvy ears of the kangaroo.

- The Square shape: is used to represent the mouth and nose areas alongside the pouch area of the kangaroo.

- The Circle shape: is used to represent the upper parts of the limbs and the ankle and knees joints of the kangaroo.

🔸🔸🔸

For number [3],

- The Rectangular shape: is used to represent the tail and lower limbs for both top and bottom limbs.

As shown in the above image.

After the above is done, we can now use this various shapes to structure the form of the kangaroo as in [4], we can then now easily refine and add details as you progress in your drawing as in [5].

With the proper understanding of this various steps drawing the proportions and heights of our animal pets will remain constant and accurate whereas in any position you can easily get your character proportion accurately.

🔸🔸🔸

By integrating these shapes, artists can begin to visualize the final composition and refine their work further.

When you have properly understood how to use basic shapes to construct or define the form of animals or your pets, you can now move on to doing the next step.

STEP 3: Decide what “cute” means to you or the moments to which your pets make you go "awww!"

This next step encourages artists to define their personal interpretation of cuteness, which can vary widely among individuals. By clarifying this concept, artists can create more personalized and expressive representations in their artwork.

Observing common pet behaviors can provide valuable insights into their character, allowing you to capture authentic poses and expressions in your sketches. By focusing on these behaviors, you can create artwork that resonates with the essence of your pets, showcasing their individuality in a meaningful way.

Below are a series of sketches highlighting a pet's favorite activities or their most playful moments, which oftentimes showcase the pet's personality, which can be seen in the following activities:

a) Pets Casual Poses, and

b) Pets Casual Body Expression.

a) Pets Casual Poses,

These moments capture the joyful essence of our furry friends as they engage in spontaneous activities, showcasing their unique personalities and charming quirks, which capture the relaxed and playful nature of animals in a variety of settings. This approach highlights their personality and charm, making it relatable and enjoyable for pet owners and animal lovers alike.

Take, for example,

We can find our pets doing the following poses and activities like:

Sleepy Snuggles:

A) a cat curled up in a bed under the sunbeam,

B) a puppy nestled in a blanket,

C) a hamster tucked in a tiny bed.

🔸🔸🔸

Playful Pounces:

A) a kitten batting at a toy mouse,

V) a dog leaping for a ball,

C) a rabbit hopping in a field.

🔸🔸🔸

Curious Exploration:

A) a ferret poking its head out of a box,

B) a bird perched on a windowsill,

C) a lizard basking on a rock.

🔸🔸🔸

Stretching and Yawning:

A) a cat stretching its back,

B) a dog yawning with its tongue out,

C) a bunny stretching its long ears.

🔸🔸🔸

Bath Time Fun:

A) a puppy shaking water off,

B) a cat taking a bath,

C) a hamster splashing in a bowl.

🔸🔸🔸

By capturing these various poses of the behavioral activities of your pet, you not only enhance the visual appeal of your artwork but also convey the unique personality of each pet.

Meanwhile, for that of;

b) Pets Casual Body Expression.

This concept emphasizes the subtle nuances of animals' body language, showcasing how their posture and movements convey emotions and thoughts. By focusing on these expressions, we can better understand and appreciate the unique traits of each pet.

Take, for example,

And these pet expressions can be seen when the pets are shown doing the following activities:

Big Eyes and Tiny Mouth Chewing:

A) a kitten looking up with wide eyes,

B) a puppy whimpering for attention,

C) a hamster nibbling on a seed.

🔸🔸🔸

Happy Tails:

A) a cat flicking its tail with contentment,

B) a dog submissive tail expression,

C) a bird bobbing its head happily.

🔸🔸🔸

Funny Faces:

A) a cat with a grumpy expression,

B) a dog with a tongue sticking out, and

C) a hamster with a surprised look.

🔸🔸🔸

By focusing on these various nuances, you can create pieces that truly reflect their character and spirit as well as give the image of the pets depth and perspective expression.

Step 4: use of the [Simple Mode] to draw out a rough sketch of the pets illustration

This step emphasizes the basic features of the simple mode and how we can use the various features to help us in the capturing of the unique traits and emotions of pets in your artwork. By using a simple mode for sketching, you can effectively and effortlessly outline their forms and personalities before adding more detail whether you be a new beginner or an old user.

To be able to access the simple mode will first need to switch from studio mode to that of the simple mode and this process can be done by first quick on the [Clips Studio Paint logo icon] by the top left side of the canva, a mini dashboard will appear which among the option available, we will notice below is the [Simple Mode] option, click on it, it will then take us to the simple mode setup.

We can now go on by creating a new canva we want for our illustration.

🔸🔸🔸

Things should take notice of when using the simple mode is that unlike studio mode, simple mode comes with lesser features to help you comprehend and use clip studio paint software effectively.

So here are the notable things you should know about the simple mode, they as follows;

• The name and functions of the different set of available features in the simple mode. According to what their name implies below so does their functions.

🔸🔸🔸

• Also, for the [Layer dashboard] by the right hand side when you drag it out towards the left hand side it's becomes bigger and display more information but when you drag it today right it's minimize into a smaller dashboard.

🔸🔸🔸

With the introductive aspect out of the way, I would like us to move on to how the step-by-step process are used to create my work in SIMPLE MODE.

First I use the [mechanical pencil sub tool] to rough sketch my female character, pet animals and buildings alongside the landscape unto the scene.

🔸🔸🔸

I then drag that layer onto a folder I created by clicking the folder icon and naming the [Character Lineart].

🔸🔸🔸

• Process to import your [Downloaded sub tool brushes] material into the simple mode setup

This aspect terms to make things a little bit difficult and complicated to new users, but I Believe by now old user like myself are full accustom to how to import brushes from studio mode to simple mode but due to the tendency that this article can be read by new beginner, I will be explain the importing process.

Start by Force cooking on the brush icon on the [pallette bar] by the left side of the canva > afterwards click on the [download icon] at the top of the mini dashboard > click on the plus icon > then select the [Import from studio mode].

🔸🔸🔸

With that, a new MINI dashboard we appear where we can then locate the different varieties of brushes such as the pen, pencil airbrush, blend brush, eraser sub tools among others, which without you can then go on and select where you want to take the subtle from whereas in my case I imported my downloaded material from the PENCIL SOFT TOOL.

🔸🔸🔸

Here is the time lapse of my rough sketching and drawing of the line art process.

🔸🔸🔸

STEP 5: Adding of flat colors using [Simple Mode].

This step involves applying the foundational colors to your artwork, which sets the tone and mood for the scene in the simple mode setup.

🔸🔸🔸

~ Time-lapse

• How to create your own color palette in CSP [Simple Mode]

Creating your own color palette in Clip Studio Paint (CSP) using Simple Mode allows for a personalized and efficient approach to selecting colors for your artwork. This feature enables you to easily access and manage your preferred colors, enhancing and making efficient your creative workflow.

And this can be achieved by first say

You have your colors layout on your canva you can go about using the eye dropper which can be enabled by long pressing the color to select the designated color you want.

After that is done, > click on the color icon at the bottom of the pallet bar you will then see a mini dashboard which will appear with the color sets below it, > go under the color set you then see a plus icon which enables you to create or paste your selected color unto the [color set].

Using this process you can then create your different color set of your choice for your illustration which process is shown below.

🔸🔸🔸

• My settings for the full sub tool and way I make use of it.

By customizing the fill sub tool settings, you can optimize its functionality to better suit your artistic style and preferences. This tailored approach helps streamline your work process and improves the overall quality of your illustration.

Now in the simple mode there are two set of Fields subtle you can make use of there are follows

a) The fill bucket sub tool (which I also come to name the fill touch sub tool), and

b) The fill lasso sub tool.

For the fill bucket sub tool

First I adjust the setting because if you can carefully look at the below image, you notice that when we use the default setting, they tend to be gaps when we try to fill in the color for the characters in our illustration, but for the second one, you can notice that after adjusting the setting of the [gap] by enabling it and the [refer all layer] disabling it, we can easily and effortlessly fill in the flat color of the various characters in our illustration.

🔸🔸🔸

Hence, also take note 🔹that before you fill in your color, you first need to draw out a borderline of your choosing color so your fill sub tool can follow along and fill in your flat color.

🔸🔸🔸

For the fill lasso sub tool,

As I previously mentioned in my above statement the first need to change the default setting unlike that of the fill bucket sub tool, for the fill lasso sub tool all we need to do in the setting is to disable the [refer all layers] and we can effortlessly now feel in our flat color onto the various characters in the illustration.

🔸🔸🔸

And without saying so, we should also keep in mind that, as I have previously stated, we will first need to create an outline for our character before we can be able to fill in the flat colors using this time the Lasso sub-tool.

🔸🔸🔸

STEP 6: use of CSP asset materials for adding details process with [Simple Mode].

This step involves utilizing the CSP asset materials to enhance the details in your project while operating in a simplified interface. By choosing Simple Mode, users can streamline their workflow and focus on adding intricate elements without unnecessary complexity.

This step involves utilizing the available CSP asset materials while employing the different rendering techniques available in Simple Mode. This approach allows for an efficient and straightforward way to achieve the desired visual outcomes.

• Adding of image material as background image,

By incorporating a suitable background, the rendered images become more engaging and visually appealing. This background image serves to complement the intricate details being added, creating a more cohesive and visually appealing final result.

And to achieve this, you don't need to even stress yourself as much, or what we need sometimes is just to get an asset material from the CSP assets store, which you can do by either clicking on this link to take you to this particular asset material I made use of in today's tutorial.

🖇️🖇️🖇️

Then After you have gotten your asset material, you can just take it and place it at the background of your illustration, then adjust it to suit the position you want it to be in your illustration using the [free transform] transformation settings in the simple mode.

🔸🔸🔸

Which, without being done, you have successfully done with less effort added in the background to your illustration,

Now, is that too difficult to do?

Go ahead and try it out for yourself.

CLIP STUDIO PAINT asset store offers variety of background images which you as an artist can effortlessly make use of to help enhance the overall composition and context of the visuals.

• Adding of wood pattern to the house,

The use of wood patterns can add texture and depth, making the house design more realistic and inviting. This detail enriches the overall aesthetic, contributing to a more immersive visual experience.

Now start by first clicking on the image icon at the top right corner as previously mentioned, click on the download selection option, and then we can select the downloaded wood asset material we want to make use of in the illustration, and using the [free transform] transformation settings, we can now adjust the wood pattern position to suit the placement of the house and make it appear more realistic.

🔸🔸🔸

After that is done,

we can now move on to creating a new layer above the imported wood pattern layer. I set the blending mode to [Multiply] and then used a reddish-brown color to render it onto the house, the dark areas, or shadow areas of the house.

🔸🔸🔸

Next,

• Adding of downloaded straw bale material to represent stack grasses,

This addition not only mimics natural elements but also provides a tactile quality that enhances the authenticity of the design. By using the realistic asset materials like straw bale, the visual representation of the stacked grasses becomes more relatable and grounded toward realism.

🔸🔸🔸

To achieve did I move,

Start by clicking on the material icon at the top of the canvas, then click on the search button and search for [straw bale]. When the material appears, click on it,

🔸🔸🔸

and it will then be imported onto the canvas, where you can then place it or arrange it accordingly with positioning of the stacked square shapes previously drawn using the [free transform] transformation setting.

🔸🔸🔸

Now when we look closely, we can clearly notice some left-out gaps where the [straw bale] image will use that cannot be covered, or so all you need to do is to duplicate the [straw bale] and paste it in the areas that the first one did not cover and then adjust it as well to suit the positioning of the square shapes using the [free transform] transformation setting.

🔸🔸🔸

For any other left out that you may find you can just use the lasso selection sub tool to select some portion of the straw bale, copy and then paste it in the area which was left out.

🔸🔸🔸

Next, I selected the chalk sub-tool brush, and with a slight reddish-brown color, I added shadow areas where the primary light, which is the sun, could not reach onto the straw bale grasses.

🔸🔸🔸

And with that, you have successfully added or created a stack of grasses.

And if you would like to get the above used ass material I use, you can use the link below for that.

🖇️🖇️🖇️

• Adding of grasses using downloaded clips studio paint brushes materials,

By using the various available grass assets materials from the CSP asset store website.

We can implement them to allows for a more dynamic and varied depiction of flora landscape. This technique further elevates the design by incorporating diverse textures and forms, making the artwork feel more alive and engaging.

To be able to create a set of grasses, I made use of another set of material known as grass painting brushes, which you can also get by using the below link.

🖇️🖇️🖇️

Now to render my grass landscape, I started by first importing the brushes from my studio mode into my simple mode, which you can do as previously mentioned above.

After I have successfully imported my brushes from the studio modern to the simple mode, I then move on to use one of the brushes with the multiple sets of grasses on a linear pattern to create a dense set of grasses using a dark green color, and then on top of it, I then render a slightly yellowish green on top of it.

🔸🔸🔸

Afterwards, using another set of those same downloaded grass painting brushes with tips made up of flowers and petals, I then added some flowers and petals onto the grass landscape.

🔸🔸🔸

And with that I was done with the creating of my grass landscape.

🔸🔸🔸

Now onto the next aspect of the tutorial.

STEP 7: Refining stage and the use of color lines to add fur markings.

In this step, we'll be focusing on fine-tuning the colors of our pets illustration from further adding of detailed colors to create realistic fur markings , which adds texture and dimension to your artwork. This attention to detail will help in further define the appearance of our pets and also enhance its overall visual impact.

🔸🔸🔸

Now to explain this part I'll be using two of our common regular pets [the dog and the cat],

🔸🔸🔸

Which are true in my illustration showing their step-by-step process of their color rendering process and I swear how you can be able to create unique fur styles.

Now over the years I've come to learn two ways to which I render furs for my animals be it a pet or wild life and they are as follows:

use of parallel lines brush as fur marking, and

• use of downloaded fur asset material.

• For the use of parallel lines brush as fur marking,

This particular technique of using parallel lines to represent our pets furs enhances the realism of fur by mimicking the natural patterns and textures found in animal coats. Using a parallel lines brush provides precise control and variation in line thickness, which contributes to a more lifelike appearance.

And the use of this technique can be carried out in this below [7] stages.

~ For the dog

Stage 1: Start by drawing the line art of the dog.

Stage 2: Add the flat color; let it be the base color you want the dog to appear as, such as follows: in this tutorial, I made use of a suit of milky orange-like color.

Stage 3: Add some dark variants of that previously used flat color on a new layer around the areas that will define the dog as a dog (and as well, I advise you make use of reference photos for this particular aspect, ok?).

Stage 4: Refine the entire process by adding some halftone and further blending the various colors together.

Stage 5: This is where we can now use a parallel lines sub-tool brush to draw uniform light on the dog but also try as much as possible to keep the line flowing in the direction that you believe the fur should flow (using the sub-tool brush known as Rake 2 & Cherry Brush).

Stage 6: Use a texture brush, which for this tutorial I made use of the chalk brush to add a highlight on the borderline of the dog.

🔸🔸🔸

Stage 7: Create a new layer above all the previously mentioned layers, set that layer's blending mode to overlay, and add a finishing glow up 🌟 to the illustration alongside some finishing effects like in this case sprinkling away of water effect 💦.

🔸🔸🔸

Now,

~ For the cat

The rendering process tends to be almost similarly to that of the dog,

Stage 1: Start by drawing the line art of the cat.

Stage 2: Add the flat color; let it be the base color you want the cat to appear as, such as follows: in this tutorial, I made use of a suit of milky orange-like color.

Stage 3: Add some dark variants of that previously used flat color on a new layer around the areas that will define the dog as a cat (and as well, I advise you make use of reference photos for this particular aspect, ok?).

Stage 4: I used this aspect to add stripes to the entire body of the cat to give it that unique appearance.

Stage 5: This is where we can now use a parallel lines sub-tool brush to draw uniform light on the dog but also try as much as possible to keep the line flowing in the direction that you believe the fur should flow (using the sub-tool brush known as Rake 2 & Cherry Brush).

Stage 6: Use a texture brush, which for this tutorial I made use of the chalk brush to add a highlight on the borderline of the cat.

🔸🔸🔸

Stage 7: Create a new layer above all the previously mentioned layers, set that layer's blending mode to overlay, and add a finishing glow up 🌟 to the illustration.

🔸🔸🔸

And with that, conclude the use of parallel lines to define your furs for your pet animals.

If you would like to get the brushes I made use of for the parallel lines, use this link below.

🖇️🖇️🖇️

STEP 8: Add the finishing touches.

In this final step, artists refine their work by making small adjustments that enhance details and ensure a polished look.

🔸🔸🔸

These finishing touches can include highlights which in this tutorial I added to the edges of the rendering characters in the illustration,

🔸🔸🔸

Or maybe in another sense, it could be the adding of shadows to the four corner edges to direct the eyes of my viewers or audiences toward the various animal pets with also the female character in the scene,

🔸🔸🔸

and also any necessary corrections that elevate the drawing's overall impact are done in this particular aspect.

And with that we are finally done 👍 with the masterpiece illustration, I feel like crying 😭 but, I should MAN-UP, right.

🔸🔸🔸

Now with the above taking to account concludes today's tutorial article.

Conclusion

Thanks to all those who where able to spare a bit of time to read through this article, the journey of artistic expression through pet drawing reveals a profound interplay between creativity and emotional healing. This intimate process enriches you as an artist's experience, fostering personal well-being while allowing for a unique exploration of the bond shared with beloved pets. Ultimately, pet drawing becomes more than just a creative endeavor; it transforms into a powerful means of self-discovery and emotional expression, underscoring the vital role that art plays in our lives. With that said and out of the way, I say to you all... bye-bye, until the next article series.
