This tutorial is more focused on watching the YouTube video tutorial as well as the timelapse video so you can analyze the steps and strokes that were taken to improve our hair study. What I write here are important points that I mentioned but not in such detail in the video. I hope everything presented and worked on here is useful to you.

When drawing, practicing, studying, or creating characters, you may run into several of the same questions we ask when doing these activities… HAIR: What kind of hair do I draw? How do I draw it? Here you'll find a methodology that can help you and answer your questions.

Know the basics of drawing hair

It's important to know that when drawing hair at any angle, it represents a three-dimensional representation on a two-dimensional plane.

We can use this image as an example, where we see a face or plane, which then has more planes or faces with Width, Height, and Depth.

By understanding and applying width, height, and depth, you can apply three-dimensionality to drawing.

We can practice creating strands of hair. View what you want to draw as something three-dimensional with its own anatomy. This way, you can improve your drawing both practically, theoretically, and visually. Practice with simple, basic elements, then begin sketching the shape in more detail. The important thing here is the practice, more than the finished drawing.

Understanding head shape

You have to understand and draw the base of the hair, starting from the structure of the head and remembering that we are drawing on a sphere or a flattened sphere, this can be applied to any style, comic, manga, etc.

We can start with the front of the face, which some refer to as the hairline. This area is sometimes differentiated in men and women by two points.

Men's hairlines are straighter and curved in the so-called "filters."

Women's hairlines are more curved and shorter.

The last thing I can say is that I always suggest using real hair references. There are several web tools that will give you references of frontal hair, three-quarter profiles, and other angles of the head and hair. With that knowledge, you'll be able to create hair from your imagination and creativity.

Study, practice, and be consistent, and that will lead you to drawing perseverance.
