How To Turn Your Webtoon into Physical Copy
Hey guys! Today, we're going to try turning a webtoon into a printed book—just like this one! And of course, we’ll be using the features available in Clip Studio Paint EX to make it happen. So, if you’ve got a vertical scroll comic and you’ve been wondering how to give it a page-turning makeover, stay tuned!
1. Preparing Your Webtoon
The first step is to prepare your comic in vertical format—aka, your webtoon. This is an example of my own webtoon that I’m going to convert into a print comic. I’m using the comic page format, which is why it looks like this. Now, this feature is only available in the EX version of Clip Studio Paint. So if you have access to that, here’s how you can use it.
1. Create new canvas
2. Make the Webtoon Page Layout
1. Choose the second tabs on the project menu
2. Change your file and save option
3. Change your canvas size, for me (800 x 19200 px)
4. Change the page setting
5. Click OK to finish
3. Rearrange The Page
1. To add more pages to your comic
2. To import a page to your comic. You can add your saved canvas .clip file to your comic file by clicking this option.
3. To change the page comic settings. You can change your canvas size and resolution by clicking this option.
2. Turning Your Webtoon into Comic Book
1. Prepare your webtoon canvas
2. Make New Comic Book File
1. Choose the 4th tabs from project setting to make printing book.
2. Rename the File and save file.
3. Prepare your canvas size. For printing it’s usually on A5 size and don’t forget to chang it into color because webtoon is on full color. Check the left binding option for webtoon printing.
4. For cover page, choose the left one, so it’s easier to make and print the cover later.
5. Folio is the page number of your comic.
6. Click OK if the settings are ready.
3. Preparing Cover
Click on the cover canvas to edit and make the cover
Try to work on your cover using that grid as a guide line
The front cover usually includes:
1. Title
2. Author’s name
3. Volume number
4. Publisher
The Back cover usually includes:
1. Title
2. Synopsis
If you want to preview your printed cover, try to view it via 3D binding preview. Go to file>export multiple pages> 3D preview for binding.
Here is the preview of the printed cover.
4. Making the content
Open your webtoon and comic file side-by-side
Copy your webtoon panel to your comic book file canvas
The red rectangular area is the printable book grid
The yellow area is where you should put your comic dialogue aka baloon so that the reader can focus and looks clean.

3. Publishing Your Comic Book
1. Publishing for Print
go to file> export multiple pages > export fanzine printing data
Check all of your file, and click continue
Check the print format, make sure it’s on color and high resolution
Check again the 3D binding preview
Make sure your comic lay out are okay
go to file> export multiple pages> open exporting destination. To check your exported printing file
All of the pages will be exported by .psd file.
2. Publishing for EPUB
If you want to publish via EPUB/ebook. Try this one. Go to file> export multiple pages> export EPUB data
Checklist for the export option, like if you want to export for kindle format too
Click open exported file
Click on exported data
Here is where your exported ebook file saved. You can test to open it using application support on opening ebook file
3. Publishing for Psd Format
If you want to export the pdf. Go to file>export multiple pages>pdf format
Choose the save file location
Check the settings
