Introduction

Have you ever found managing files for a manga with many pages to be difficult?

CLIP STUDIO PAINT EX allows you to manage multi-page works collectively.

This feature is exclusive to EX.

It's a highly recommended feature for those who draw manga with many pages or publish doujinshi.

You can export in bulk, change page settings in bulk, and more.

Let's master the page management functions to save time and boost efficiency.

A video is also available, so if you understand Japanese, please watch it.

Creating Multi-Page Works

First, let's create a file.

Selecting [File] > [New] will display the [New] dialog.

Click [Comic] (third from the left),

and checking [Multiple pages] in the bottom left allows you to create a multi-page work file.

Doujinshi published in Japan are generally monochrome, 600dpi, right-bound, and start from the left.

Click the [OK] button with these settings.

You have successfully created a multi-page work.

Checking [Start page from right] will result in a work file that begins on the right.

Also, checking [Make facing pages into spreads] will create odd and even pages joined together.

Use this setting when you want to create large panels across a spread.

Checking [Cover] allows you to create separate cover pages within the same work file, distinct from the main body pages.

The settings can be changed, for example, main body at monochrome 600dpi and cover at color 350dpi, which is very convenient when creating doujinshi.

With multi-page works, exports can also be performed in bulk, making doujinshi submission easier.

Click [File] → [Export multiple pages] → [Batch export].

The [Batch export] dialog will appear, where you set the export destination folder, file format, page range, etc.

Clicking OK will display the [Export settings] dialog; configuring these as well allows you to export multiple pages at once!

You can also export a custom range, such as only pages 8 to 30 out of 50 pages.

Page Management

You can perform page management operations by clicking [Page Management] in the menu bar or by right-clicking on the work file.

Pages can be moved intuitively by drag and drop.

Spread pages can also be moved, but there may be cases where they cannot be moved due to page structure issues.

You can also copy pages from one file to another by drag and drop.

Add new pages with [Add Page],

and perform detailed settings for the pages to be added with [Add Page (Details)] (or [Add Page (Advanced)]).

[Duplicate Page] duplicates the selected page.

You can delete the selected page with [Delete Page].

Please note that [Delete Page] is an irreversible action.

You can also import and manage single-page manga you've created so far,

or pages from other work files.

Clicking [Import Page] will display a dialog to select the pages to import.

When you import any file, the imported pages will be added to the work file.

[Import Page] allows you to import major image files.

As of July 2025, supported formats for [Import Page]:

・CLIP STUDIO FORMAT

・CLIP STUDIO PAINT

・CLIP STUDIO PAINT Page Management File

・BMP・JPEG・PNG・WebP・TIFF・Targa

・ibisPaint Work File

・kakooyo! Work File

・IllustStudio Document

・ComicStudio Work File

・Adobe Photoshop Big Document

・Adobe Photoshop Document

・PDF Format

・CLIP STUDIO Storyboard File

You can import multiple files at once, and even import PSD or JPEG files to manage them as pages.

This is also convenient for editing reprinted collections or anthologies.

While [Import Page] also allows importing multiple files at once,

[Batch Import] is convenient when, for example, creating a reprinted collection and you want to simultaneously scale down from B5 to A5 size.

As of July 2025, supported formats for [Batch Import]:

・BMP・JPEG・PNG・TIFF・Targa・WebP

・Adobe Photoshop Big Document

・Adobe Photoshop Document

Click [File] → [Import] → [Batch Import].

Select multiple files you wish to import.

The very first page will then be displayed as a preview, allowing you to edit how to scale and arrange it on this screen.

The same processing will be applied to all other pages in bulk.

All pages have been imported.

Other pages have also been scaled down according to the preview settings.

Please note that pages will be imported according to the basic expression color settings of the destination work file.

For example, even if the exported file is grayscale, if the destination work file is monochrome, all pages will be imported as monochrome.

When adding or rearranging pages,

page file names may no longer match the actual pages.

Use [Page Management] → [Align Page File Names] to make the page file names consistent with the display order.

Use this if you are concerned about discrepancies.

Template Distribution

Since it's cumbersome to create a work file every time,

I create a template work file and duplicate it for use.

It's a B5 size monochrome 600dpi, starting from the left, a typical work file for doujinshi in Japan.

It includes tones, pens, and layers for rough sketches.

This is available for distribution, so feel free to use it as is, or refer to it to create your own unique template.

Conclusion

This concludes the "How to Create Multi-Page Works" guide.

Please feel free to adapt it to your own needs and streamline your workflow.
