Introduction

Heyy y'lll

In this guide, I’m going to show you how I create a full night-time scene in Clip Studio Paint, starting from a simple street sketch and building it up into a vibrant artwork filled with neon lights and a starry sky.🌌

We’ll go step by step—setting up perspective, painting buildings, adding windows and billboards, and creating that soft neon glow that makes everything feel alive.

I’ll also show you how to blend your sky, add clouds, sprinkle stars, and place extra elements like people or cars to bring more life into the frame.

Everything is explained in an easy, casual way so you can follow along and create your own aesthetic night scene without stress.”

Using perspective ruler

“I won’t focus too much on the perspective part, but to start sketching streets, the perspective ruler in CSP is the best tool.

Go to layer > Ruler/Frame >create perspective ruler > One-Point Perspective. Once you set up a basic composition like this sketching all the details in the first pass.”, you can move on to the coloring stage.”🎨

Painting buildings

“I don’t use color fill to paint buildings because using a brush (like oil paint) gives them a more lively, natural look.🌱

To paint the buildings, you can use the Magic Brush or Magnet Brush to select the areas first and then start painting.”

💡“Start by painting the walls of the building with a muted or desaturated depressed color as the base.

Using a darker, calmer tone for the walls helps the bright glow colors you add afterward really stand out, giving them that neon, shiny effect. This way, the neon highlights pop and feel more vibrant against the subdued background.”🌃

Adding Windows CSP Assets

“Now, for adding windows to the building, there are two ways:💡

manually drawing them, or using CSP assets > building windows.

Once you download the windows, add them to any brush > click Edit > Transform > Distort (warp if the figure is curved), then adjust it on the wall.”

Creating the Neon Effect on Windows🌃

Now important part — neon effect.

To bring neon effect, select windows part through Magic Brush > then Spray Brush > Normal to Add (Glow). Use bright colour to paint the window.

Now this will work as neon paint but make sure this works only if background is dark on same layer, (so draw this glow part on same layer as building or darken it before using).

  • Colouringwindow🪟

“Don’t just stick to painting the walls or windows with a single glowing color

Experiment with adding multiple colors and shades to the glow, because this adds depth and variation, making the scene feel more dynamic.✅️

Each extra color can create more drama and atmosphere, almost like telling a story within the light itself, giving your artwork a richer, more lively feel.”

Neon Technique to Billboards

💡“Same way as done for windows, use the same technique to draw the billboard. Use Normal Brush Add (Glow) Brush as well to bring the effect.”🌃

Adding Extra Elements Using CSP Assets

“Adding extra elements in the frame using CSP assets like people, cars, etc.”

Starry skies

🌌

And last important part — starry skies.

First use Gradient Brush to paint your sky > blend it using Blend Brush as needed.

Then use Brush rough wash … to draw clouds.

After that, add stars, etc., in the sky.”

Plus point for you all

💡💡💡💡💡To edit your illustration, first export your artwork as a single merged layer. After that, rasterize your illustration so all effects can be applied properly.

Now go to Edit > Tonal Correction > Gradient Map and adjust the tones and colors until the image looks the way you want.

💡If you want to apply multiple filters within the same illustration, use the Lasso or Rectangle Selection tool to select a specific area and then apply your filters only to that part.

This lets you edit different sections of your artwork separately without affecting the whole image.🎨

Conclusion

And that’s it —

that’s how I build a neon night scene in CSP. It might look like a lot of steps, but once you try it, everything starts feeling natural.🌱

Just keep experimenting with glow, colors, and little details until the scene feels right to you. Don’t stress about perfection; the fun part is watching your sketch slowly turn into a lively street full of light. Take your time, enjoy the process, and let your neon lights and starry sky come to life in your own style.”💅

There might be a few mistakes or things that aren’t perfect along the way, so please don’t take mind them.

The main goal is to enjoy the process and have fun bringing your scene to life

Hope yll enjoyed ; )❤️
