Shiny Eye Banner Tutorial
Hello! I'm Alice, and this time I bring you a tutorial to create an eye banner, and this time we will make one emphasizing the eyes, using tools, brushes, and more resources downloaded from Clip Studio Assets.
Download brushes and tools from Assets
We just have to open the following site:
To be able to use glitter effect brushes, we can acquire them for free, with clippy or gold points.
We can search for a glitter effect brush using the search engine with keywords like “spark“, “stars“, and filter in the “Brushes“ section
We choose a free or paid one that we like, accept to buy and download.
We accept the download, and automatically we will be able to check the progress in our Clip Studio Paint application in the upper right section next to the cloud, indicated by the two-arrow icon.
Once the download is complete, we create a new canvas. And we locate in our tools and brushes section, a category where we want to permanently save the recently downloaded brush.
We click on “Add from downloads“. And in the dialog box that opens, we can select the brush we want to add to the brush set and click “Add to palette“.
My favorites in Clip Studio Assets
If you wish, you can visit my own favorites, where I have selected all the brushes and resources that have caught my attention, such as brush sets, backgrounds, and 3D models. If you select the “star“ button, you can add them to your favorites and download them.

Painting Shiny Eyes
We create a canvas longer than it is wide, to our chosen and preferred measurements. I have prepared a character design emphasizing the eyes, which we are going to paint.
As can be seen in the folders section, I have played a bit with clipping layers to add effects with gradients on the character's skin and hair.
To paint the iris and pupil, we can use one of three tools:
1.- A pre-installed brush like “G“
2.- The “ellipse“ selection tool
3.- Or a “lasso fill from assets“ type brush
We create the eye circles, choose a fill color, and paint.
We are going to start adding clipping layers, and we use a darker color than the one chosen to give effect to the pupil.
We use a “G“ pen in this case, it can be any one you like best.
We use the Airbrush tool, and paint the upper part with an even darker brush.
We use our favorite glow effect brush and paint on a new clipping layer with an “add glow“ effect.
Again, with the airbrush, we are going to paint a glow effect on the lower part, either on the same layer as the 'add glow' effect, or on another.
We add more glitter effects using our downloaded brushes.
With our “G“ pencil, we can create more effects, we use white color and, on the left edges, we can add red and blue colors to give a digital glitch effect.
We use more glitter effect brushes, and again with the airbrush, we are going to use a light color, like orange, for more light effect.
On another layer, below the glow layers, it can be the same one we used for the pupil, we use another brush using a dark tone to add depth.
Now that we have added all our eye glow effects, we will use a filter, and we will choose “Gaussian blur” on the base layer of the eyes to integrate it into the drawing, and in this way, the outline will not be noticeable.
We choose the blur amount. And accept.
Add More Effects to the Banner
To our entire drawing, we can add more effects, for example, we will use a new layer with a gradient that enhances the color.
We add more shapes around, all the ones we like.
Some brushes I used:
We also integrate the eye area with the eyelashes so that the color is uniform and there are no irregularities in the color.
Now, we are going to add more details, we can even export and import the illustration again and add “multiply“ effects with low opacity and Gaussian blur to give more energy to the image.
And we have created our banner to use on social media, or for our character collection. We can experiment with all the tools and brushes, preferably on different layers to test all the effects, and if we change our mind about a color or element, we can easily modify or edit it, add filters, or add clipping layers with new color blending modes.
In the following YouTube video, you can see the coloring process of my banner:
Thank you for joining me in this tutorial! I hope it has been useful to you! There are many incredible things we can use in Clip Studio Paint, and thanks to all the users who share brushes on the platform, it makes it much easier for us to create and streamline our drawing process to create beautiful illustrations.
See you in the next tutorial!
