In this tutorial, Junpei Animates will show you how to add textures in clip Studio Paint. I hope that you enjoy this tutorial.
Introduction
Hi! My name is Junpei Animates, and I’m here to tell you how to use textures in clip studio paint and I’ll show you a way on how to use texture for your drawings.
1) Adding a Canvas in Clip Studio Paint
Before all of that for first time users, make sure you make a canvas for your drawings. I recommend doing the size of 8.5 x 11 inch. Don’t forget to change the option to inches so it doesn’t look confusing.
Ok let’s get started.
2) Imagine what you want to draw.
First things first, draw whatever you like. It can be your original character (OC) a building, your favorite video game character, everything.
3) Adding Line Art and Colors
Then you do the flat colors, the shadows and the effects. Make sure the line art is on top of the color layers to add the texture paper.
4) Lowering the Opacity after Importing the Paper Texture
Once your done drawing and coloring, is time to add a new layer and the put it on top of the color layer. Make sure you lower the opacity to at least 50% or 30% so you can see the drawing.
It looks like this:
And then, use “Auto Select” to erase what you need to make the drawing process faster.
Tip, make sure you select “Delete Outside Selection” so it can look like the one in the right. It looks like this.
5) Use Blending Mode to find the right texture.
Once erase, play with these option. Change the hue and saturation , blending mode, if you want to follow what I do, I like to mess with its settings so it can feel right.
6) When your comfortable, post it!
After when you feel like you’re done. Submit your work on social media and repeat. Post it on X , Instagram, or anywhere you like.
Conclusion
If I would like my takeaway on this, I say keep drawing and have fun. Explore new textures that just paper. Theres millions upon millions of textures to choose from for your style of choice. And most importantly, have fun.
