0. Introduction
I will introduce this month's theme, "Fantasy World Effects and Direction."
In this article, I will explain how to easily draw magic circles.
The content is divided into the following four parts:
① How to create a magic circle brush
② How to draw a magic circle
③ How to apply effects to magic circles
④ Combining with illustrations
1. How to create a magic circle brush
✨ Creating a Magic Circle Frame Brush
I will show you how to create a magic circle frame that includes magic incantations.
✨ Creating Brush Tip Material for Magic Circles
We will create the image material that will serve as the base for the frame.
Since the right side will be the outside of the frame, set the orientation of the characters with the outside and inside in mind.
The characters I used this time were special characters searched for on the internet and entered as text.
Character Brush Materials
If you want to use something other than special characters but find it troublesome to make them, character brushes are also available for purchase, so please give them a try.
✨ Magic Circle Brush Settings
Adding a Tool
First, we will add the tool that will be the base for the brush.
We will use the Figure tool to draw a circle.
① Select the "Ellipse" Figure tool from the default tools.
② Copy the "Ellipse".
Brush Tip Material Settings
③ Select "Brush tip" from the left menu.
④ Select the image you created from "Material".
Figure Settings
⑤ Select "Figure" from the left menu.
⑥ Select "Ratio" in "Specify proportions".
This changes it from an elliptical shape to a circle with the same aspect ratio.
Stroke Settings
Finally, we will set the ribbon settings to connect the materials.
⑦ Select "Stroke" from the left menu.
⑧ Check the "Ribbon" checkbox.
2. How to Draw Magic Circles
The magic circle we will create this time is like the one in the diagram below.
We will draw a magic circle with a star mark, which often appears in manga and anime.
🌟 Steps to Draw a Magic Circle
Step 1: Draw a Circle with Characters
Step 2: Draw a Pentagon Inside the Circle
Step 3: Draw a Star Inside the Pentagon
Use a straight line brush to draw the lines of the star according to the vertices of the pentagon.
Finally, align all layers to the center to complete it.

🌟 Other Magic Circles
By changing the combination of shapes, you can draw many other types of magic circles.
3. How to Apply Effects to Magic Circles
The effect we will apply this time is an effect that makes the magic circle glow.
🌟 Preparing the Effect Layer
Setting the Main Line Color of the Magic Circle to White
① Select all magic circle layers and merge them into a single image.
② Paint the color of the magic circle lines white.
Creating the Effect Layer
③ To create a layer for the effect,
select the magic circle layer and apply "Selection from Layer."
④ Once the entire magic circle is selected, apply "Expand selection" to expand the selection area.
*The expanded area will become the effect part, so set it widely.
⑤ After expanding the selection, add a new layer for the effect and fill it.
Finally, deselect the selection, and the preparation for the effect layer is complete.
🌟 Creating the Magic Circle Effect
⑥ Select the effect layer and apply "Gaussian blur."
◆ How to set Gaussian blur
Filter ⇒ Blur ⇒ Gaussian blur
🌟 Setting the Glow for the Magic Circle Effect
If you want to make the effect glow, setting the layer to "Add (Glow)" or "Color Dodge (Glow)" will make the entire magic circle shine.
Combining with Illustrations
🎨 Drawing in a Magical World Style
The incantations in the background use the same brush tip material as the magic circle, used as a ribbon brush.
🎨 Completion
3. Conclusion
The magic circle designs introduced this time are relatively easy to draw.
You can draw more complex magic circles by combining various shapes, so please give it a try.
Thank you for viewing until the end.
