Finding the Position of Contours from the Peaks of Thickness
When depicting a human body with depth, the peak of thickness for each part helps determine the contour!
This is not limited to the forearm; when parts of the human body are drawn from a foreshortened angle, peaks of thickness exist in various places—not just at the back. When these peaks are at the edges, the area beyond them becomes invisible, and those peaks often form the contour lines.
However, sometimes recessed parts can also become the contour.
If you can visualize the transitions between muscles and tendons even roughly, you can avoid shapes where the entire forearm is vaguely swollen and instead draw a firm, well-defined body.
I believe that correcting vague images as much as possible and approaching an understanding of structure is not a detour, but a shortcut to improvement.
