HEY BUDDIES!! ♡

Welcome to a little guide where we’ll learn to draw shoes step by step 👠✦

Grab your pencil, keep your eyes open, and let’s turn simple shapes into cool little shoes! 🐾

SNEAKERS

HOW TO DRAW A SNEAKER — SIDE VIEW 👟

STEP 01 — BASIC SHAPE

Start with a simple box to define the overall length and height of the sneaker. Keep the front slightly lower and the heel a little higher.

STEP 02 — OUTLINE THE SHOE

Use the box as a guide and build the sneaker’s silhouette. Curve the toe, shape the upper, and create the ankle opening.

STEP 03 — ADD THE SOLE

Draw the sole underneath the upper part. Keep its shape slightly curved to follow the natural form of the sneaker.

STEP 04 — ADD DETAILS

Now add the laces, tongue, panels, heel, stitching, and other details. Follow the direction of the shoe when placing each detail.

STEP 05 — CLEAN UP

Once the construction looks right, hide or erase the rough guidelines and refine your lineart. ✦

♡ QUICK TIP

Don’t focus on details too early! First get the length, height, and overall silhouette right — the details will be much easier afterward.🌀💙

ADDING SEAMS & PANEL LINES ✦

🩰- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 🩰

Once the main outline is ready, add the curved seam lines that follow the shape of the sneaker.

These lines help separate different panels of the shoe and make the design feel more structured. Keep them slightly curved and follow the direction of the shoe instead of drawing them as straight lines.

Shoe/sneaker angle

STEP 01 — SET THE GUIDES

Start by drawing a simple box in perspective. This will help you decide the length, width, and direction of the shoe.

STEP 02 — DRAW THE SOLE SHAPE

Inside the guides, sketch the basic sole shape. Keep the toe rounded and the heel slightly narrower to create a natural sneaker form.

STEP 03 — SHAPE THE UPPER

Build the upper part of the shoe over the sole. Follow the curve from the toe toward the heel and leave enough height around the ankle.

STEP 04 — DEFINE THE ANKLE OPENING

Add the opening at the top of the shoe. Use curved lines to show the padded collar and keep it aligned with the perspective of the shoe.

STEP 05 — BUILD THE FRONT

Add the tongue and create the space where the laces will sit. Keep these shapes following the direction of the shoe.

STEP 06 — ADD THE DETAILS

Now add the laces, panels, stitching, heel details, and other design elements. ✦

STEP 07 — CLEAN & REFINE

Erase the construction guides and refine the outline. Add the sole details and small curves to give your sneaker a finished, dimensional look. ♡

QUICK TIP

Always start with the correct perspective base before adding details. If the construction is correct, the final sneaker will look much more natural!🪾💙

🖇Remember, you can draw a sneaker from almost any angle! ✦ Simply change the perspective and adjust the construction guides according to the direction you want the shoe to face. 💜🖇

Cartoon Shoes

BUILDING THE SHOE FROM SIMPLE FORMS 👟

STEP 01 — START WITH THE SOLE

Begin with a simple rounded shape to establish the length and width of the shoe. In perspective, this shape will appear more like an ellipse.

STEP 02 — GIVE IT THICKNESS

Add another curved line underneath to turn the flat shape into a 3D sole. This gives us a clear base to build the shoe on.

STEP 03 — ADD THE HEEL & TOE HEIGHT

Use simple vertical guides to mark how high the heel and toe areas should be. These guides help keep the shoe balanced in perspective.

STEP 04 — BUILD THE UPPER

Now place the main upper of the sneaker on top of the sole. Think of it as wrapping a soft 3D form around the foot.

STEP 05 — SEPARATE THE MAIN PARTS

Divide the upper into simple sections such as the toe box, sides, tongue, heel, and ankle collar. Keep each section following the direction of the shoe.

STEP 06 — ADD THE DETAILS

Once the basic 3D structure is working, add the laces, panels, stitching, padding, and other design elements.

STEP 07 — REFINE THE FORM ✦

Finally, clean up the construction lines and refine the curves. Add shading and small details to make the sneaker feel solid and dimensional. ♡

QUICK TIP🖇

Don’t try to draw the entire sneaker at once. Break it down into simple 3D shapes first, then build the details on top!1🩶🤎

3d assets

USING 3D SHOE ASSETS 👟✦

You can also use 3D shoe models from the Clip Studio Paint Assets library as a reference!🎗💛

Simply adjust the model to the angle and perspective you want, then use it to understand the shoe’s shape, proportions, and details. 🎨👢

Models as reference

USING 3D FOOT MODELS AS REFERENCE 👣

You can also use 3D foot models from the Clip Studio Paint Assets library as a reference for your shoes!🎀💜

Adjust the model to the angle and perspective you need, then use the foot shape to understand how the shoe should wrap around it. This makes it easier to get the proportions, placement, and perspective right. 🤸‍♀️👣

THANK YOU FOR LEARNING WITH ME! 🥿🎨

I hope this little tutorial helped you understand how to build and draw shoes from different angles! ✨

Keep practicing, keep experimenting, and most importantly — have fun drawing! 🫶🏻🌷

See you in the next tutorial! 💛💙

LOVE YOU ALL🌷
