In this speedpaint video i'll show you how to create traditional coal pencil painting imitation artwork.
This is me and my wonderful cat selfie portrait.
There is my first experience of using Clip Studio Paint program.
Before this for imitation of pencil drawing i used only Photosop and my own Photoshop brushes.
And of cause i always work with Graphic Tablet.
In traditional painting i like to use soft coal pencils and texture paper. I was very happy to realise that there is great digital imitation of my favorite materials and instruments in Clip studio Paint.
For best result you should set the hardest mode of pressure on your Tablet pressure settings.
Also i liked that Canceling Combination Ctrl+Z works for many latest actions, not just for last step, as in Photoshop.
I didn't show the first step, the contour making - you can draw it above the photo on transprerent layer or draw it by yourself - doesn't matter. This is about how to make volume picture from nothing by just using some kinds of strokes of pencil brushes. There is no gradients or other Fills - just strokes.
It is not optimal manual of drawing - i used too much layers and changed brushes very often because i didn't know them well, this is my fist time. Also i used white brush instead of eraser) But i didn't use it often because in traditional drawing you can't erase coal pencil without ugly durty effect. So i think not to erase - this is some part of real traditional painting imitation.
