Today in a simple way I will explain how one can draw a black and white style with elements that can be a little closer to the manga style, something simple that must be said, a type of illustration that lends itself very well to minimalist comics, and such, useful and we will quickly see how it could be done ..

To clarify, I wanted to combine the black and white tips with the Web-comic (only because they are a series of aspects that could be used in this web-comic, but I will not show tips for the comic web because that is not what we will see) for being the style that many modern mangakas use and to take advantage of showing clip studio functions that are easier to use but at the same time the ones that help the most in illustrating this style, however I will not take advantage and I will put both tags so I mentioned that I will not show tips for web comics, only tips for painting in black and white in an easy and understandable way for those looking for cartoon or semi anime style, with things cleared up, let's begin.

First he just make the sketch as you know how to do it.

No matter the pencil or level of stabilization, your anatomical skills will not be seen here, you can improve over time, what we are going to do now is that it is needed.

LineArt

Here you require a stable stroke, I suggest using a pencil that with a minimum pressure size, (example the saji pencil in clip studio)

Take your eyes off the skeleton layer and lower the opacity of the sketch, and smooth with the pencil, do not apply force, apply firmness and smooth with the line, if necessary, do the line art once, and if you do not convince make another line art cleaner on top.

If you want, you can use the vector layer, that will help you to more easily erase lines that collide or that you must erase from perspective and to clean.

With the rubber activates the vector rubber function and put the middle option-

In this way you can delete elements that should not be seen much more easily.

With this already clear, we make the lineart to start at once, now with these 2 tricks that shorten difficulties.

Moving on when making the black and white tones.

I propose 2 ways to paint it, monochrome and directly black and white, if you decide to put on black leather clothes, or some other type of black tone, to make it more recognizable you must make the lines within the black space of white, but not to those parts again, more easily you have to make 2 new layers, one below the coloring lineart (or put the tones in black and white if you see it that way) and another to make it the bottom layer, which makes what you draw in that layer is reflected only in the layer below.

Monochrome

Additionally you can add more details to complement the black tones, such as hair.

With this we would already have the monochrome style, that if, with darker skin tones you could occasionally use gray, obviously do not literally do it black, it is even a mockery, but anyway, monochrome is more convenient to make comics, if you use a style More complex you will have to put more details for an apparent shadow using pencil strokes, something like that.

Black and white

For the directly black and white I recommend the following, do it with color and change it to black and white with its respective function.

(change that color option to gray)

do not be so linear with the colors, make them more clear, that the other elements such as hair and clothing are more different, in simple words use lighter and not so pale colors so that black and white is better translated.

So it would be if we translate it directly, once we have the colors, if you are not convinced you can only regulate them, or make the skin completely white if you want it in your character, if not only leave the skin tone like this.

Already modified and retouched you can already have it established and use this base.

conclusion

Done, I already showed you the basic bases to paint black and white or create a monochrome style in a simple way, something that will help you learn part of a manga-style comic format, or if you like, as a key for more complex bases for illustrations More elaborate black and white, I hope that my knowledge will help you to start experimenting with these styles and create new types of illustrations.

Thanks for your attention.
