Hi guys, welcome [Do Art],and I[Daniel]will be taking you guys on the common expression and concept of painting Eyes,so come along with me and take note of every step

What I normally love doing before jumping into, is having a little

Side lesson★

The human [Eyes] is the gateway to one of our five senses. The human eye is an organ that reacts with light. It allows light perception, color vision and depth perception. A normal human eye can see about 10 million different colors! and that is what we are going to cover in this atom and it's dynamic in nature,the eyes is one part of the human body aspect that as an artist when drawing one needs to establish a state of comfortability and stress-free from one's subconsciousness so as to enjoy and achieve a great drawing experience

Drawing of the eye, for me was what I started with when I was to start digital paint.so I will make it as fast and easy as possible

There are many parts of a human eye,

so let get down to it

 

 

Concept 1:The eye ball

The eyeball is a spheroidal structure containing sense receptors for vision, found in all vertebrates and constructed much like a simple camera.

 

And it's the parts of the eye that make up vision which consist of

 

★Cornea: This is the front layer of your eye. ...

 

★Pupil: The pupil is the black dot in the center of your eye that acts as a gateway for light....

 

★Iris: This part is typically referred to as your eye color. ...

 

★Lens: The lens is behind the iris and pupil.

 

 

ii) the lid

An eyelid is a thin layer of skin that covers and protects the eye. The eye contains a muscle that retracts the eyelid to "open & close" the eye either voluntarily or involuntarily.

iii) the lashes

 

Lashes are made up of (keratin) and are strain hair that help prevent dust from entering the eyes but now in this time,ladies often do wear artificial lashes.so the painting of the lashes can either be thick or scanty.

And this eyebrows helps add beauty to the human face and the also add to the emotional expression of the face

 

And the lashes show the gender representation of a character [For male less hair strains but for the female many as you want]

For the male★

They have little strains of hairs coming from the eyelids

while For the female★

They have long thin strains of hair coming out from the eyelids

Here are some of the different ways of drawing eyelashes

iv) the brows

An eyebrow is an area of short hairs above each eye that follows the shape of the lower margin of the brow ridges of some mammals.They help protect our eyes from moisture and light.

 

below are some of the different types of eyebrows named as follows

 

★Thin brows

★Flat brows

★Short brows

★soft angled brows

★Hard angled brows

★Round brows

When the different brows are place with the different types of eye named

 

★basic opening

★half opening

★wide opening

★upward closing

★downward closing

That also affect give a different kinds of look to the character

Concept 2 Eye Movement

Each eye has six muscles; lateral rectus, medial rectus, inferior rectus, superior rectus, inferior oblique, and superior oblique. All of these muscles provide differnt tensions and torques to control the movement of the eye. These are a few examples of types of eye movement:

 

Concept 3 i)Functionality

People often neglect to notice the [pupils] or [iris]but forget that they have the Ability to convey the subconscious emotion also Each eye constantly adjusts the amount of light it lets in, focuses on objects near and far, and produces continuous images that are instantly transmitted to the brain.however, the increase/decrease in size of the pupil or iris can change the looks and the style.

With a little twitch in the the shape of the either the pupil or iris can take your art to a hole new level while also adding beauty to it,

it may not be realistic most time,but just good enough

 

[Avoid!!! drawing the pupil of the eye to being cycle when viewing from a side perception but instead draw a sphere shape]

Below are some of the function that have been utilize by many artist to give there character a hole new look [like manga series,anime series and so many others]

Below are some few techniques of drawing eyes

ii) position

Eye position helps locate visual targets relative to one's own body and modulates the distribution of attention in visual space.

which are as the results of the eyes muscles

 

[What should be take to notice when painting eyes]

 

★As you draw the eyes you should avoid draw the both eye in the face flat for the skull is not flat.it have a kind of round shape so draw it a bit curved to make it more realistic

 

★also avoid drawing the retina round when the character is looking sideway

 

★and give a gap between the upper eyelid and lower eyelid

 

Below are some ways to position eyes

Concept 5: the emotional expression of the eyes and the different aspects of painting eye

 

The eyes convey about 25 emotional expression by merely looking at the person, you will know what is on the person mind

I will be naming the emotional eye expression as it is place below

 

★Happy★Sad ★Angry ★please ★confused

 

★fear ★surprised/shocked ★irritated ★triumph ★serious

 

★hollow/blank ★tired ★Wtf?!

★confident★incredulous

 

★drunk ★rage ★flirty ★bereft

★silly

 

★fierce ★sarcastic ★disgusted

★despondent/pouty★nauseous/ill

 

 

Concept 5 The different eyes shapes & design

Before draw an eye one should have in mind that eye in spite of it expressing emotion,it also have shape

While down below is some techniques utilize by some artist and animation studio [such as manga, anime etc] use the following techniques to Drawing and painting the different styles of eyes

 

Side lesson★

[You will notice,When draw, their are some terms which as an artist you should have the knowledge of, and bear in mind when you are to paint and their are how to add warm and cool tone express in the dark & light form into your painting as done above]

 

Form of adding warm & dark tone★

The art is often base on the use of darker shading and warm color like [dark red & warm pink ]

That's it for that peice

 

 

The Next is the dark & cool tone★

In this form,the art is base on the use of darker shading & cool color like [light pink and dark red]

After the flat base color,I set it to [multiply]In order to paint out the part that light did not reach

Following that,create a new layer and set it to [overlay]For the adding of highlight and a little dash of red color

Following that is to create another layer,set it to [difference] and add a darker blue,

I don't know if people often make use of this setting but when I stumble onto this set and use it to add some color to my art it changes the art and give the art a hole new look.I advice playing around with this set the more

[And I use this same process in painting the other two]

And let's not forget that animal also have different eye design

 

 

Sketch work

The flat base color is done on a [normal layer]

Use the multiply layer to add a darker line to the eyes

Lately,use the subtract setting to add warm color and shadows

That's it for the painting of different kinds of animals eye

Implementation of the different eyes expression on a character

After coloring the flat base color

Set it to [multiply] and paint in the shadows on the angles around the eyes that light do not reach

 

I will be use some of the the eyes reference above attach to my paint to show how I paint eyes with some characters
