Hi guys, I’m GatoLunarius. And today we are going to be learning to draw a flower starting from basic shapes. Flowers are something almost every artist has drawn at least once.

So let’s start

*Also I apologize for some misspelling, English is not my main language.

Brushes and Tools

The main brush we are going to use is the G-pen that came as default in Clip Studio

For the petals we are also be using the quick lasso tool fill

And the Rough&colorbrush for shading and effects.

And for the final details we are going to use a blender, I use this acrylic blender, (sorry when I downloaded was free) but you can use other one that have in your materials.

We are only going to be using 4 tools for this flower

Lets start by picking your reference

Let's start by the basic shapes

Flowers are a beautiful mix of basic shapes.

Spheres are the first step

All flowers are a tiny ball(actually bud, but is better if you picture a ball for this exercise) before blooming. Even after blooming we are just looking at that bud open.

First find the center of the bloom.

Knowing how to draw starts with lines and circles.

Draw the basic form the stem and then draw circles for the flower(s)

Then on that circle turning into a sphere.

Picture the blooming spot and let's begin with the petals.

For the petals and leafs…more basic shapes

Now that you picture the spot where the flower blooms.

You are going to use your lasso tool to draw the petals.

Petals are mostly a mushy circle or oval.

Look at your reference picture and start drawing spots of color that begin from the blooming spot.Remember some flowers have layers of petals so draw from inside out.

Start with the petals of the center and then continue with the next layer.

Use different colors to differentiate them.

Don’t stress too much about having the exact shape or if you draw a layer over others.

Now let's give volume and dimension to those petals.

Now pick three basic colors for the petals.

A dark color for the shadows, a light one for the lights.

We are going to be using the G–pen for this one, to start with blocks of color that later we are going to shade.

Now little by little start adding more colors from your reference image.

It’s time for the Rough&colorbrush to shine

Use the brush and start shading using the same colors to unify them to each petal.

This way your flower start looking more realistic.

Take your time and remember: it doesn't have to look exactly as the photo

Now let's start with the leaves

Now turn on the blender

Using the Acrylic Blend we are going to give that final touch to the flower and leaves, mainly in the line between the shadows, folds of the flower and lights.

Just tiny brushes, very soft movements.

Don’t go too hard, because the flower may end up looking weird, also you can add more strokes with the G-pen and the Rough&colorbrush.

The final step

Now you can use NEW CORRECTION LAYERS to play a little and adjust the colors in case you want to make it look a little brighter or adjust it if you want to add a color background.

And there you have it.

The flower is ready.

I hope my tutorial helps any of you to draw more pretty flowers in this crazy world.
