Introduction

Hello everyone!

Today I’ll be guiding you through a simple tutorial on how to create a mouth-watering ice cream sandwich using Clip Studio Paint Simple Mode. In this step-by-step tutorial, you will learn the techniques used to create this delightful treat.

1. Choosing Canvas Size

After launching the app, click the Clip Studio Paint icon in the tool bar menu on the left then a box will appear with the option to switch to Simple Mode.

After switching to simple mode, you can select a default canvas or create a custom size. For this tutorial, I recommend using the default canvas size which is 1600 x 1200px then selected okay

2. Sketching

Start sketching by using the pencil tool, one technique I recommend is incorporating lines and shapes into your sketches. This method, in my opinion, plays a fundamental role in ensuring accuracy.

In the sketch below, I integrated the method mentioned using lines and circles to get the final sketch.

3. Flat Colors

Before you start adding colors, first reduce the opacity of the sketch layer. To do this, tap current layer, a box will appear, then you lower opacity to your liking. This is done to enhance the visibility of the colors added later.

To add colors, select the figure tool. Next to the line /fill bar, click the drop-down menu and select “create fill”.

Following the previous step, select a brown color using the color wheel and apply it to the ellipse circumference. Ensure to repeat these steps for the next two layers. Use a G-pen to create the large chocolate drops.

Readjust the ice cream texture to the point where it has an imperfect shape using the G-pen and add create a few tiny chocolate drops on soft cookie using the same pen.

Here’s how your final piece should look after adding flat colors.

4. Adding Details

We’ve arrived to the most exciting part- details!

For this, create a new layer the add darker tones using the soft brush. For the lighter tone, create another layer above the darker tone using the same brush.

To add more life to drawing, I once again used the G-pen to create a lighter shades and lowered the opacity for the effect.

Use the soft brush once more to create a shadow beneath the ice cream cake and large chocolate drops.

5. Final Touches

For the final touches, add a plain creamy brown as the background and a white shade at back using the soft brush. Simply use the color wheel and choose a brown of your choice for background.

After all is done, save and then export your piece.
