Using photoshop brushes to save time!
Photoshop Brushes
There is a great offer of free photoshop brushes, and now that Clip Studio Paint can read them is great news!, Although there are many sites, I want to highlight these that I found by chance, they belong to the Indonesian artist Livia Prima and she shared them on her ArtStation page
To download them we just have to click on the second link, the first is the original publication
To find photoshop brushes we just have to google: free photoshop brushes and a great offer will appear immediately. In the link below you will also find a free compilation of brush packs:
Install brushes + Organize them
Once the brushes are downloaded, it is better to create a separate "toolbox" so that they do not mix with the others and you can find them more easily.
The .abr can hold up to 300 brushes! In the case of the artist Livia Prima package, it is huge, so just before integrating them, duplicate a sub-tool and drag it to the toolbar, so you will have a "box" just for the brushes that you are going to add.
In my case, I have a "box" with all the custom brushes that I have downloaded from the different courses I have done, in your particular case you can do it by category, it depends mainly on how the .abr file is organized. Finally drag the file abr. from where you have saved it and now
Brushes display
The Apr will install, take a moment and is full of brushes, so that it is not confusing I recommend changing the display to brush tips so that you can use the brushes as "stamps"
click on the small three-bar menu> View> Motif
This will make our brushes look much more organized as follows:
These brushes are a very large package, it has infinite uses for landscapes, portraits, textures etc.
Something I learned is that brushes can be used as "stamps", for this it is necessary to see where they are being applied on the paper, so changing the settings to see the shape of the brush is very useful!
Change the settings like this: Preferences> Courses> Select for all Brush Shape options
Use of brushes such as stamps, textures, landscape
Just use the cloud brushes, and I just put them on the canvas, you can create realistic clouds quickly, it saves a lot of time, and since you can visualize exactly the position it will be in, you can know exactly what effect it will have.
The "stamp" brushes can be really complex, here you can easily create a scene of some birds flying over an old castle, all with brushes
Having a large number of brushes can be a bit annoying and slow the system down, but it is really useful to save time and give texture without worrying much.
Nothing is written in stone, so we can use a smoke brush to create flames, and a stone texture brush to make scales, the most important thing is to have options at hand and take advantage of the large number of brushes available.
My collection started with the Chinese artist Yu Ing (Fishman) who shared his brushes with his students in a course I did, because you also have to be attentive to when your favorite artists share their brushes with them, even if they don't see it as immediately useful eventually.
When brushes are imported they usually have a very simple configuration, remember that you can customize photoshop brushes with many more options in the sub tool detail option
Don't forget that brushes are used in combination with blending modes, filters, shading, etc.
I hope you liked it!
