Let's Make Illustrations without Drawing Skill in CSP!

Welcome to this Tutorial! Without a drawing tablet, You can create good Illustrations with the Tools of Direct Draw.

You only need Clip Studio Paint and a bit of patience!

Let's go!

Direct Draw Tools

The Direct Draw Tools are essential for drawing lineart and colors

You must use the Vector Layer for the lineart.

You will be faster with just a few Keyboard Shortcuts!

 

 

 

 

Straight line

You can draw easly a simple straight line.

 

-Left Click of Mouse and Hold

-Choose the direction

-Release the Left Click

 

-Hold the Shift Key before releasing the Left Click to lock the direction (Multiples of 45°)

For join two lines perfectly use the Tool Property--->Vector Magnet

You can edit quickly the Line completed

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the Line

-Move the Control Point

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl Key

In Tool Property---> Starting and Ending use these Settings to make a dynamic line

Curve

You can draw easly a curve and the amplitude

 

-Left Click of Mouse and Hold

-Choose the direction

-Release the Left Click

-Choose the amplitude

-Press the Left Click

 

 

-Hold the Shift Key before releasing the Left Click to lock the direction (Multiples of 45°)

You can edit quickly the Curve completed

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the Curve

-Move the Control Point and the Amplitude

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl key

Like the Straight line, for join two curves perfectly use the Tool Property--->Vector Magnet

Like the Straight line, with Tool Property---> Starting and Ending , You can make a dynamic curve

Polyline

With this Tool, You can draw continuous segments

 

-Left Click of Mouse to Start

-Choose the direction

-Left Click to finish the first line

-Right Click of Mouse to undo the last Left Click

-Repeat as long as you want

-Double Left Click of the Mouse to stop/ -Join at the start of first line

 

 

 

The Polyline is useful to fill using the Raster Layer

Tool Property--->Line/Fill--->Fill

Continuous curve

This tool is, personally, the most useful for those who want to create an Illustration without drawing tablet

 

You can use 3 types of Curve

 

Spline, Quadratic Bezier, Cubic Bezier

For the Spline and Quadratic Bezier

 

-Left Click of Mouse to Start

-Choose the direction

-Left Click to make the first Point

-Right Click of Mouse to undo the last Left Click

-Repeat as long as you want

-Double Left Click of the Mouse to stop/ -Join at the start of curve to close

However, You can edit quickly the Curve completed

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the Curve

-Move the Control Point and the Amplitude

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl key

For Cubic Beizer

 

-Left Click of Mouse to Start

-Choose the first point

-Left Click and Hold to make curve

-Release the Left Click

-Right Click of Mouse to undo the last Left Click

-Repeat as long as you want

-Double Left Click of the Mouse to stop/ -Join at the start of curve to close

The Control Point of Curve Cubic Beizer are a bit different

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the Curve

-Move the Control Point and the Amplitude

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl key

The Curve Tools is useful to fill using the Raster Layer

Tool Property--->Line/Fill--->Fill

Lasso fill

This tool can be used only in Raster Layer

I wouldn't recommend the Lasso fill If you don't have a drawing tablet!

 

-Left Click and Hold

-Choose the area to fill

-Release the Left Click

Rectangle

Create a perfect rectangle with this tool

 

-Left Click of Mouse and Hold

-Make the rectangle

-Hold the Shift Key before releasing the Left Click to create a square

-Release the Left Click

 

You can edit quickly the figure

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the rectangle

-Move the Control Point

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl key

Use the Roundness of corner to create a Rounded Rectangle

Ellipse

This tool is like the Rectangle

 

-Left Click of Mouse and Hold

-Make the ellipse

-Hold the Shift Key before releasing the Left Click to create a circle

-Release the Left Click

You can edit quickly the figure

 

-Hold the Ctrl Key and Left Click above the ellipse

-Move the Control Point

-Release the Left Click and Ctrl key

With this feature

Tool Property--->Adjust angle after fixed

 

After releasing the Left Click You can choose the direction of axis

 

Polygon

This feature helps you to create a polygon

You can also choose the sides

 

-Left Click of Mouse and Hold

-Make the polygon

-Hold the Shift Key before releasing the Left Click to create a polygon

-Release the Left Click

 

Customize Your Tools

You can customize all tools like this based on Rectangle Tools

For example, in the Sub Tool Detail---> Brush Tip You can choose the Tip Shape

Draw Your Illustration of School Girl!

Now You are ready to draw your Illustration!

 

-Create New File

-Drag and Drop the School Girl Model

-Edit the pose

Now let's start drawing!

 

-Set the School Girl Layer Opacity

-Create New Vector Layer

-Use the Direct Draw tools for create Line Art

Now draw the details of Line Art

 

-Use the Curve with Tool Property

Starting and Ending--->Brush Size

It's time to color!

 

-Create New Raster Layer

-Hide the details Level

-Choose the color and fill all parts of drawing

-Show the details Level

-Fill the details of face

Let's make Shadows

 

-New Raster Layer---> Blending Mode Multiply

-Use Selection Area---> Select Color Gamut for choose the area in the Colors Level

-Use Continuous Curve (Create Fill) and create a closed shape

Let's make Lights

 

-New Raster Layer---> Blending Mode Add Glow

-Use Selection Area---> Select Color Gamut for choose the area in the Colors Level

-Use Airbrush---> Soft for Light Effects

-New Raster Layer---> Blending Mode Add Glow

Put This Layer in the bottom

 

This is for special light effects of Eyes using white color

-Use Continuous Curve to make Light Effects in the hair

-Add background from Material [Color Pattern]
