Introduction:

Before you start drawing flowers in Clip Studio Paint, it's essential to consider that there are different types of flowers, each with its own unique characteristics. In this tutorial, we'll explore some flower drawing styles so you can get inspired and start creating your own works of art. Get your paper and pencil ready, or your tablet and digital pen, and let's get started!

To begin with, we can understand the structure of flowers, we can see the petals and the structure of flowers as geometric shapes. This will help us understand and draw better.

Step 1: First strokes

After choosing which type of flower you want to draw, it's important to decide whether you want to include the stem or just focus on the flower and leaves. You can start by drawing the stem or the center of the flower, depending on what suits you best.

Step 2: Drawing the petals

Now, regardless of whether you've chosen the stem or the center of the flower, it's time to draw the petals. Remember that each flower has a unique petal style, so there is no one pattern that applies to all. In this tutorial, I'll present three different flower styles.

Using a pencil, start by drawing loose, thin lines to mark out the petals. Once you've defined the style of the petals, make firmer strokes to give them more shape.

Style 1: The first flower has more wavy petals at the tip and the petals bend to form a shadow, giving the flower a different look.

 

Style 2: The second petal style is already different, the petals are straighter at the tip and, as shown, have a more rounded finish. Notice how each feature adds personality to the flowers.

 

Style 3: As I decided to make a rose, we have the third petal style, the center can be made with a circle and the body like a U, then said petals emerge from that center, with the tips more wavy, from the center outwards, again emphasizing the importance of variety.

 

 

Step 3: Colors and shades

Now it's time to add colors to your flowers. Flowers usually feature vibrant and beautiful colors, so take your time choosing your palettes. In Clip Studio Paint, you can use the standard brushes to create amazing flowers, without the need for a lot of extra resources. This is what I've done to demonstrate that even if you don't have a lot of resources, you can still make beautiful flowers.

 

Start by applying the base colors to the petals and leaves, trying to recreate the natural tones of the flower you are drawing.

I then used the same brushes to add shadows and highlights. This will help highlight the beauty and shape of each flower.

Using the same brushes, I applied the shadows and highlights to the flowers to bring out their beauty.

Final result

With this tutorial you can create digital drawings of your flowers in a simple way and with only the basic tools provided by the program. Remember that constant practice is the key to improving your artistic skills. You can use this tutorial as a basis for creating flowers in your own artistic style, experimenting with other flowers and even new textures to bring more realism to your drawing.
