This time I will share a little trick I usually do with Clip Studio Paint's feature: Auto Action!

Actually you can do a lot of things with this, but I will share one of the simplest yet the most useful way to use auto action.

1. What is Auto Action?

Auto action is a feature that allows you to record repeated actions (repeated clicks) and replay it with a single click. For example:

This is my usual layering system. I took me a while to create, name, and organize them one by one. Imagine that I have a weekly update and had to create all these layers on each of my comic files. Because of that problem, I found out that auto action is quite useful to save time and energy. I can create all of those layers by a single click!

So how to create an auto action? Let's go to the next part.

2. Where to find Auto Action?

If you have no idea where to find the auto action tab, you can find it beside your layer tab (a) or inside Window menu > Auto Action > Check it (b).

3. How to Create Auto Action?

This time, I will share about creating auto action for basic layering.

 

First, create an auto action set. This works just like a folder for your layers, but instead of layers, they consist of some auto actions.

a = your auto action set name

b = create new set

c = import auto action set from material. This can be taken from Clip Studio Asset.

 

After creating the set, there will be an auto action appeared below it. Simply start the record button and start to create the basic layers used for drawing. Just create them like you usually did and don't bother with the recording!

But note that some actions can't be recorded in it, such as action inside your canvas (line strokes, coloring, etc.), changing layer order, etc. To check if your steps are recorded or not, you can click on the drop down button.

When you're done, press stop.

Now your auto action is ready to use!

4. How to use Auto Action?

Now that your auto action is ready, you can just select it and click the play button or double click on the auto action itself and your layers will be there! :D

Little tips!

You can drag out your auto action and pin it under the menu bar or quick access for quick shortcut.

You can also delete some steps inside your auto action (if you happen to make some wrong clicks while recording) by clicking on the delete button or rearrange the steps order by dragging them.

That's a simple tips for using auto action from me. By knowing this basic, you can always create more shortcut to simplify your works!
