Introduction

Nice to meet you. It is blue.

This time, I would like to explain the animation of a girl blinking, which I created when I was in charge of the MV for the song "Caramel Macchiato on the desk".

It's a simple animation that just creates and repeats three patterns of eye differences, so I would like even the first person to try it out!

I will explain how to finally create something like the GIF image below.

ready

This time, I'll try to blink the eyes of the already created illustration, so please prepare clip data depicting the illustration you want to move (for those who do not have clip data, it is OK to combine images).

Open the prepared data in CLIP STUDIO PAINT, and if the timeline window is not displayed, display the "timeline" from "window" on the toolbar.

Click "New Animation Folder" in the timeline window to create a new animation folder. When an animation folder is created, the New Animation Cell button becomes active. Click to create an animation cell.

Next, click the "New Timeline" button to create a timeline for creating animations. CLIP STUDIO PAINT Pro can create animations up to 24 frames.

This time, since it is a very short animation called blinking, create an animation for 1 second with a frame rate of “24” and a playback time of “24”.

Preparation for blinking

Then, let's actually draw eyes. This time, we will move the created picture, so let's first make the character's face soft.

At this time, if the data to be used is a layer that has not been integrated and you can hide only the eye layer, it is ok just to hide the layer.人 If it is difficult to hide only the eyes, create a new layer below the animation layer created earlier and fill only the eyes with a nice feeling.

Draw eyes from the top. I draw on the layer in the animation folder created earlier (the default layer name is 1), but now the preview mark (eye icon) of the animation folder is translucent and I can not draw.

Then, click the "Specify cell" button in the timeline window to link the layer to the timeline.

You can see that the white canvas is displayed on the timeline and the preview mark of the animation folder is no longer translucent. Let's draw an eye on the layers in the animation folder!

Draw eyes (open eyes)

By the way, I finally draw my eyes, but it is hard to draw with one layer. So, when I try to add a new layer, the preview mark is translucent again ...

That's where the layer folders come in. Select layers 1 and 2, right-click and select "Create folder and insert layer". You can see that the preview mark for the "2" layer is enabled at the same time that the previous layer is in the folder "1".

Add layers as you like in the folder you just created and draw your eyes.

If you have just hidden the first layer, just copy the previously hidden layer into the "1" layer just created.

Draw eyes (closed eyes)

Did you draw attractive eyes?

Next, draw a closed eye. When you click the "New Animation Cell" button, an empty layer is created in the layer folder "2" with exactly the same configuration as in the "1" layer folder, and the preview mark of the "1" layer folder is translucent It becomes.

At the same time, I think that the eyes you drew earlier will disappear, but please be assured.

When you click the "Enable Onion Skin" button, the eye you drew earlier (the eye of layer folder "1") is displayed in translucent blue. Let's draw a closed eye inside the newly created layer folder "2" using this. If you have closed eyes, you probably don't need layers like white eyes, but you can delete unnecessary layers.

Try to move

Once your closed eyes are complete, let's move it here.

Until now, I only heard and touched the buttons on the timeline window, but next time I will edit the timeline.

Drag the red line on the timeline as shown in the image above and move it to the position "12". At this time, also enable "loop playback".

Click the Play / Stop button in the middle of the arrow-shaped button to the left of Loop Play. You should see a blinking video play every 0.5 seconds.

This is a bit different from blinking, so I would like to close my eyes for a moment.

Click the position 15 on the timeline to move the red line, then click the "Specify cell" button, select layer 1 and press ok.

I think it looks like the following timeline, so let's play it again.

The animation should look like a blink of an eye closed for a moment.

Try to improve quality

It still looks blinking, but still a bit unnatural.

So I want to make my eyes look more natural by drawing my eyes closed.

Now let's create a new animation cell to draw the closing eyes.

Click the "New Animation Cell" button to create a layer folder "3" and insert a new frame where the red line was.

As the length of the frame will be adjusted later, first move the cells so that the order of the cells is "1, 2, 3, 1" as in the next image.

There are various timings when it comes to half-open eyes, but this time I would like to add almost open eyes. It looks like this when drawn with a simple diagram.

By adding such an intermediate eye, it feels more natural blinking when compared with deformed eyes.

The eyes that were actually added are the eyes with a slight dip like the above. In the timeline, the closed eyes (2) have 4 frames and the half-open eyes (3) have 2 frames.

How about that? I think there is a preference, but I think that the video above looks more natural than the blink (bottom).

Write out

Finally, draw on the toolbar with “File → Export animation → Animated GIF” and show off to your followers on SNS such as Twitter!

Finally

How was that?

This time I created a picture for people who can draw a little but have never touched an animation, but it is a mystery how many people helped. (I hope it was useful)

This time, for the first time, I made something like making, and I was able to understand the hardships of those who made the world. Everyone is working hard ...

If you have any comments, such as requests or questions, I would like to respond as much as possible, so please feel free to ask.レ ス ポ ン ス I think Twitter has a faster response, so if it's too late you can skip it.

Thank you for reading this far!
