Anime-like eyes according to personality
When drawing different eyes in anime style, we can take into account the following parameters:
Form language:
– Triangles: They represent risk, speed and/or dynamism.
– Square and rectangles: They transmit strength, stability and/or confidence.
– Circles: They transmit warmth, comfort and/or the feeling of being harmless.
Depending on the personality that our character has, we will use eyes that tend to one shape or another. For example, a villain would be nice to have triangular eyes. However, this is not an unbreakable rule: if what we want is to deceive the viewer and make him believe that our character is a good guy despite not being one, putting round eyes on him would be a good resource.
It is not about making perfect geometric shapes, but simply making shapes that give us the feeling or remind us of the geometric shapes that we want.
Size:
– Big eyes: they convey kindness, passion, creativity, empathy… More emotion and less logic.
– Small eyes: they convey pragmatism, coldness, distance… Less emotion and more logic.
Outer end direction:
– Down: for pessimistic and/or introverted characters.
– Upwards: for ambitious and/or extroverted characters.
iris size:
A small iris conveys much less confidence than a large one.
