Hi,

Let's continue.

6) 11 varieties of sweets render in 3 complex forms 🥣

Sweets as the name implies are subject which are sugary and most time oily subject that are made up of bright, warm and vibrant colour making it attractive for eating.

This various above mentioned properties I tend to have rendered in three different processes which are numbered as follows;

Process 1 - Process 2 - Process 3.

Point 🔻

• For the Process 1 is the colour process that I will be using to rendering the following examples:

waffles - Stick sweet and any sweet subject that has a oily or honey like appearance.

• The Process 2 is the colour process I will be using to rendering the following examples:

Jelly - Gummy bears and any sweet subject that has a glowing or translucent like appearance.

• While the Process 3 is the colour process I will be using to rendering the following examples:

Chocolate - Doughnuts and any sweet subject that has a creamy or buttery like appearance.

Now when am to choose my colours for the subject with the knowledge of the various colour combination in mind, I make use of the CSP feature called Colour Mixing.

▪️Colour Mixing,

It is a CSP feature which allows us to explore and experiment with different colours in order to create a new colour or help finding out which colour are good together.

• The Colour Mixing can be located on the [Palette bar] below the canvas.

After clicking on the colour Mixing feature, a mini dashboard will appear with different Selection tools such as brush size, blender, eyedropper and more as shown below,

I then use the brush that is in the [colour Mixing] dashboard, add direct light colour on the right side smudge together with a darker colours which is for the shadows on the left side, I add the highlight colour and below it, I then add the saturated halftone as shown below.

Which with that done I can now see if the various colour combination work or complement each other,

And with that, we can now move on to the next aspect which is the step by step painting process is done as shown below;

1. Fill in flat or base colour.

2. Add form and cast shadows.

3. Add framing base halftone.

4. Add saturated halftone.

5. Add some highlights.

Fill in flat or base colour::

Is the aspect where by we fill our line art with the colour we want the base to have which define how the subject will appear. Hence, I will be using the designated colours noted above to fill in the circle shape,

You can practice with any colour schemes and this is why I briefly explain what colour combination are all about in the previous series.

Add form and cast shadows::

This aspect help add form to the subjects (circles) make it now appear like a sphere.

Add framing base halftone::

This aspect can be use to frame subject (circle) giving the subject it's unique appearance like that of process 2 and 3, and it can also be use to show the reflective ability of a subject as shown in process 1.

Add saturated halftone::

This aspect can be use to frame subject (circle) giving the subject it's Glowing like effect as shown in process 2 and 3, and it can also be use to determine light penetration effect, showing that the subject is translucent as shown in process 1.

Add some highlights::

This aspect I use to show the light source position and to give the subject that notable kind of appearance.

Notably 🔸all the above painting process are done on separate layer which highlights the importance of CSP layer features to helping maintain and keep they different render.

1) Cinnamon Rolls 🥨

They are spiral kind of bread like sweets that can be drawn using our regular shape like square, circle and triangular in a spiral like appearance, as I did mention in the previous series, using the pencil sub tool, I draw in the line art of the cinnamon rolls in 3 different forms and 2 focal view points.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I then set the blending mode of the line art to [multiply] and place it in a folder and set the folder blending mode to [Through] (which will make the folder allow the blending mode of all the layer in it show through while in the folder).

Choose a COLOUR SCHEME that flows between Light and Dark hues are I have shown below by reducing the saturation option in the [hue/saturation/luminosity], I then clip ok to confirm the results.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

With my colours lay out, I start by filling in the base colour which is the primary thing to do, after enclosing the line art with the lasso tool and then I use the bucket tool to fill a yellow colour in.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the airbrush sub tool, I then add some orange colour on a new layer above the base colour layer.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Afterwards, I create another Raster layer, set it to [multiply], use the flat marker sub tool to add a dark brown colour onto the cinnamon rolls, while I use the blender sub tool to blend some of the edges of the added dark brown colour.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now, using the soft airbrush sub tool, add some cream like soft effect on top of the cinnamon rolls and also use the flat marker sub tool to give the cream some hard edge effect as well.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a vector layer, set it blending mode to [multiply], use the flat marker sub tool to add another thicker lineart around and a thinner lineart inside the cinnamon rolls.

Then on another added Raster layer, set it blending mode to [overlay], use the choose set of colour from the colour palette as indicated on the left side of the canvas, add some warm saturation onto the cinnamon rolls.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Also using the flat marker sub tool on a new Raster layer, add some highlights to the cinnamon rolls as shown above.

After that, we can then give it a background and the cinnamon rolls are done.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

You can add further detail by adding sparkling effect as shown below.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Tip🔹I will like to point out some small mistake beginner artist do, it is getting stuck up on lay down in small details from the onset on one layer, I do advise, layer down you work in steps for easy storage and managing and using multiple layer 📰 and folders 🗂️ to give you full advantage.

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

2) Jelly 🧊

Jellies are usually made by cooking fruit juice with sugar which tends to be clear and firm enough to hold its shape when turned out of the container, but quivers when the container is moved.

To be render your sweets to having this properties,

I start by creating a new layer, set it to [multiply], drawing a cylinderal kind of shape with the bottom part bigger than the top cause the weight of the subject is pull down due to gravity, using the pencil sub tool.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, I choose a dark orange to yellow kind of colour scheme making sure to range the various colour (60% dark orange and 40% yellow) so as to have a good flow of values. Using the [hue/saturation/luminosity] to reduce the saturation and we will see the flow of values.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now, create a new layer below the lineart layer, use the sub tool to fill in an orange colour,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the flat marker sub tool on a new Raster layer, frame out the structure of the jelly using the lineart as a guide, I then use the blender sub tool to soften out some hard edges,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another layer, use the soft airbrush sub tool to add some lighter yellow and orange colours to the blobby part of the jelly, the yellows at the both ends of the jelly and the orange at the middle. Using the blender sub tool to also blend out any point you find uneven,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create another layer, on this layer all you need do is just use the flat marker sub tool to add some in-between to differentiate the blobby parts of the jelly while using the blender sub tool to add blurry effects to the bottom part of the in-between.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new layer, use the droplet sub tool to add some dark orange spots effect on the left side each of the blobs of the jelly while on the right side add some lighter yellow spots,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And with that, we can now add background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new layer below the [entire artwork folder], we are done with this piece and we can go further to add some sparkling or shimmering effect to the piece.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

3) Gummy bears 🐻

Gummy bears are small, fruit gum candies, similar to a jelly baby in some English-speaking countries. The candy is roughly 2 cm long and shaped in the form of a bear. The gummy bear is one of many gummies, popular gelatin-based candies sold in a variety of shapes and colors.

In the case, Gummy bears are expressive jellies which tend to have a rectangular like abdomen (body) with a round shape like limb, head and ears, which I draw using our regular shapes on a Raster layer with the pencil sub tool,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Each of the gummy bears, I give different facial and body expression.

Now, using a suitable colour schemes which I have evaluated with the [hue/saturation/luminosity],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

NOTE🔸that if you are first reading start to read this series 2 article before that series 1, I advise going through series 1 for better understanding of COLOUR SCHEME.

After the above mentioned done, I fill in the base colours of the gummy bears on a Raster layer using the bucket sub tool while on another layer, I use the soft airbrush brush to add darker colour values to the bears,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new layer, I use the flat edge brush to add some hard edge colours to the edges of the bears and using the soft airbrush sub tool, I add some softening effects to some edges of the added hard colours.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Afterwards, I create another new Raster layer, set it blending mode to [Add (glow)], I then use slightly lighter variant colour for the red bear and a slightly darker variant colours for the yellow and green bears,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, I create a Raster layer, set it blending mode to [colour dodge], I then use that same above variant colours to add some glowing and harsh colour effect to the gummy bears.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Then I concluded this piece by adding some background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

At the bottom of the folder containing all the painting layers which I named the [entire artwork], I then further added some sparkling effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

4) Doughnuts 🥯

Doughnuts are a kind of ring-shaped snack food popular in many countries, which are usually deep fried from flour doughs. After being fried, doughnuts can be spread with chocolate or icing on top, covered with powdered sugar or fruit, or glazed with sugar icing.

To render the above onto the sweets, I start the piece by drawing out the structure of the subject with regular shape as guidelines, using the pencil sub tool.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

After choosen the colour scheme using the [colour mixer], I fill in the base colour using the bucket sub tool and using the soft airbrush sub tool, I added some darker colour values to the various subject to give the form.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new Raster layer, using the flat marker sub tool, I add some dripping cream, shining and glum in effect while I use the soft airbrush sub tool to soften out any unwanted edges,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using a round effect sub tool, I added some blue, green, yellow and pink effect onto the yellow doughnut, then on the pink doughnut, I added some cream effect using the soft airbrush sub tool and flat marker sub tool and lastly, for the brown doughnut, I use the flat marker sub tool to add so swirling like lines,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, I then create a vector layer and a new Raster layer; on the vector layer, I draw in a lineart at for the inner and out part of the subject while on the new Raster layer, I used a sprinkles sub tools I downloaded from the CSP assets store to add a sprinkle like effect onto the subject (doughnuts).

And those above sub tool used for effect are downloaded sub tool which can be got from clicking on the links 🔗 below::

Now, on another Raster layer, set to [soft glow], I use the droplet sub tool to add in some shimmering sprinkles effect onto the various doughnuts,

............................................,,,,,,,,,

Next, I then added some background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,

And with that, this piece is done,

At the bottom of the folder containing all the painting layers which I named the [entire artwork], I then further added some sparkling effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

5) Brown Chocolate 🍫

Chocolate or cocoa is a food made from roasted and ground cacao seed kernels that is available as a liquid, solid, or paste

To render the properties on to sweets, I start by drawing the structure of the subject using the regular shapes like for this piece commonly rectangle, circle and square shapes, using the pencil sub tool, then set the Raster layer blending mode to [multiply],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a new Raster layer, on that layer, fill in the base colours using the flat marker sub tool, then use the soft airbrush sub tool to add some darker and lighter colour values to the subject to give it a designated form.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another created Raster layer, use the flat marker sub tool to add in detail rendering to the subject,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Also on another new Raster layer, further render the subject the more by adding some more defining effects like highlights on the edges, a rectangle blue colour indicating where the logo of the chocolate industry will be and finally add some reflected light on the bottom part of the chocolate using the flat marker sub tool. Using the droplet sub tool, I then add some sprinkles effect on the part of the chocolates which has being eaten.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now, creating two layers (vector and raster layer). On a vector layer, using the flat marker sub tool again, I add some out and inner lineart to the chocolate and some highlights as well, while on a created Raster layer, using the droplet sub tool, I add some shimmering effect on the rappers and surface of the chocolates,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I finish up by adding the background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And further adding some sparkling effect on a layer above the entire artwork folder and the background layer.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

6) Waffles 🧇

They are sweet dish made from leavened batter or dough that is cooked between two plates that are patterned to give a characteristic size, shape, and surface impression.

And to draw this sweets, I start by drawing the structure of the subject using the pencil sub tool, then set the blending mode to [multiply],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the bucket fill sub tool, fill in the base colour and use the the soft airbrush sub tool to add soft dark orange colour,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a new layer, set it blending mode to [overlay], then using the soft airbrush sub tool again, I add more soft dark orange colour to the subject (waffle) giving it a kind of a translucent effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, I created another Raster layer, I set this layer blending mode to [Hard light], then using the flat marker sub tool I now added some highlights effect onto the waffles in each created small boxes,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

With that done, I created a Raster layer below the [entire artwork folder] and add a background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I further then add some sparkling effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

7) Slice of a Cake🍰

Cake is a flour confection made from flour, sugar, and other ingredients and is usually baked. In their oldest forms, cakes were modifications of bread, and the piece of the cake is know a the slice cake which most times tend to be in triangular.

I start by creating a Raster layer, set it to [multiply] and I drawing the both slice of cake in the various view points,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Take the one at the left which viewers can only see 2 planes of the cake, this subject is said to be a 2 point perspective positioning which is made up of a triangular shape onto and a rectangular shape by the side, while that of the right cake viewers can see 3 planes of the cake which is made up of a triangular shape at the top, a rectangular shape facing forward and a square shape by the side, this subject is said to be in a 3 point perspective positioning as shown below,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And when I draw the square shape for the 3 perspective positioning cake, I do not draw the 4 edges of the point, instead I draw just three visible and the fourth I place it in the down position making the cake look like it's curved.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Then on a new Raster layer, I use the bucket fill sub tool to fill in the base colours of the subject using a colour palette as indicated by the sides of the subject (slice cake).

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, I use the soft airbrush sub tool to darker colour values of the previous series of colours use to give form and depth on a created Raster layer and I then use the flat marker sub tool to add some details like spots and hard edge shadings,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another Raster layer, set it's blending mode to [multiply], I use the Droplet sub tool to add some sprinkles effect onto the subject (slice cake) to give a kind of noise effect;

Then I created two raster layer, one I set it blending mode to [soft light] which I use the soft airbrush sub tool to add some soft glowing effect and the other I leave having a [normal] blending mode which I highlights

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

After that, I can then add the background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And with that, this piece is finish,

At the bottom of the folder containing all the painting layers which I named the [entire artwork], I then further added some sparkling effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

8) Mini or Short Cake 🎂

Shortcake generally refers to a dessert with a crumbly scone-like texture. There are multiple variations of shortcake, most of which are served with fruit and cream. One of the most popular is strawberry shortcake, which is typically served with whipped cream.

Which I will be drawing as well along with the various set of short cakes,

I Start rendering by drawing the line art of the Short Cake using the pencil sub tool on a Raster layer,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the bucket fill sub tool to fill in the base colours, then use the soft airbrush sub tool to add in softer shade in darker colours and the flat marker sub tool is used to harden some of the shaded areas,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new Raster layer, using the soft airbrush and the flat marker sub tool to add furthermore detail shading on to the various mini cakes while using the blender sub tool to blend out any uneven edges.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, using the flat marker sub tool on a Raster layer, add a reflected light which shows where the light source is on the scene and I also used it to paint the strawberries on the bottom mini cakes. Using the droplet sub tool to add droplet effect,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Afterwards, use the flat marker sub tool on another Raster layer, set to [colour burn], draw the another line art of the inside of the three mini cakes. Next, create a vector layer, set it to [multiply], then draw the line art of the outer boundaries of the three mini cakes.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

With the above mentioned done, create two layer, set one to [saturation] and then leave the other at [normal] blending mode.

On the [saturation] blending mode, use the soft airbrush sub tool to add some variety of saturated halftone; while on the [normal] blending mode, I used one of the Sub tool I downloaded from the CSP asset store to add sprinkles effect onto the mini cakes on the top left side,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And with that, we can just add the background and we are done with rendering this piece.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Notice ❗ how the light bounce and penetrate the various mini cakes a represented differently that is to say that the various creams are of different dense and are made up of different ingredients.

Let's finish up by adding some sparkling effect

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

9) Marshmallows 🧈

They are soft and mushy subject, so to draw them, I started by sketching four sets some laying on the ground and others standing in form of a cylinderal shape, the one because of the marshy and on strong structure make it unable to stand up straight which is done on a Raster layer set to [multiply].

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new Raster, using the bucket fill sub tool to fill in the base colour,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another new Raster layer, I added some soft dark colour onto the subject as the shadow areas using the soft airbrush sub tool.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the soft airbrush sub tool again on another new Raster layer, I add some saturated halftone between the base colour and dark shadow areas,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a new Raster layer, using the flat marker sub tool to add a hard edge highlights onto the marshmallows and using thewet bleed blender sub tool to soften the edges of the highlights,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a vector layer above all the layer, using the flat marker sub tool to draw in the lineart of the subject (marshmallows) and set the blending mode to [multiply],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

After that, I then added the background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

This piece is then done,

And with that, I add some sparkling effect on the marshmallows.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

10) Ice creams 🍨🍦

They are made up of vibrant colours and are soft, I starting by rough sketch the ice cream structure, add relivant details as I sketch on a Raster layer, using the pencil sub tool,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now, I create a new folder in side the folder holding all the artwork called [entire artwork], create two Raster layer and add the base colour of ice creams on this separate layer so that when you want to make adjustments it will be very easy, using the bucket fill sub tool to add the various flat colours and then using the soft airbrush sub tool to add soft gradient colour onto the subject (ice creams).

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create a new Raster layer, using the soft airbrush sub tool to add a softer darker values of the base colours to the subject and using the wet bleed blender sub tool to blend out any uneven edges,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the flat marker sub tool to render the fruits on top of the subject (ice creams) on a new Raster layer,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Create another Raster layer, using the flat marker sub tool again, render onto the fruits on the subject (ice creams) some highlights,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, on the vector layer, I draw the line art of the subjects (ice creams) with a warmer colour,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another Raster layer, set the blending mode to [colour dodge], I use the droplet sub tool to add some to glowing effect onto the ice creams,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Add the background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Then this piece is done,

I then added some sparkling effect onto the subjects (ice creams).

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Here is all the recorded layers process and how I did arrange the layer in Layer Mini dashboard::

11) Pancakes 🥞

They are made from thinner batter than actual cakes, and a little hot grease sets the outer surface quickly; this allows the inside to remain fluffy and light.

I Start by creating a Raster layer, the rough sketch three sets of pancakes, using the pencil sub tool and setting the layer blending mode to [multiply],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On a new Raster layer, I use the bucket fill sub tool to fill in the base colours, using the flat marker sub tool to render the orange colour onto the yellow flat colour while using the wet bleed blender sub tool to blend out some edges,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Using the soft airbrush sub tool to add soft darker colour values to one side of the pancakes subject while using the wet bleed blender sub tool to smudge together some of the areas and I use the flat marker sub tool to add hard edges colours to some of the area as well especially to the areas colour to the areas I want to represent where the light is reflected,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Afterwards, using the flat marker and soft airbrush sub tool, I render the base colours of the fruits on the subject (pancakes) on a new Raster layer,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another Raster layer, using the flat marker and soft airbrush sub tool, I add a vibrant and warm colours saturating the subject (pancakes),

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I then turn the rough sketch layer invisible and using the flat marker sub tool, add highlights on the left side facing towards the position of the light source,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now, creating a vector layer, I use the flat marker sub tool to draw the Lineart of the subject (pancakes) using a warmer colour, and using the soft airbrush sub tool, I add a softer bright colour to act as a glowing effect on a new Raster layer that it blending mode is set to [brightness],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

With the above finished, I add a reflective plate that is done in the following below process which are arrange in steps;

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Then I add the reflective plate and also I add a background,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And with that I conclude this hole process by further adding a sparkling effect.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

7) Way I add my subject to my image as props 🫕

At this point, with the various sweet subjects created, all we needed to do now is to convert the image into props, CSP have different sets of articles and video which have cover this aspect and below are some of the links;

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

But the way I turn the above sweet images to props, it is to do the following below;

I start by going to the image I want to convert to prove disable or make invisible all the background including the paper layer and then I just click on save to Library,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

The image will then be save into the library of the device you are using be it (a smartphone, tablet or system device) as PNG which we can make use of as props. With that, I represent this process on the rest subject (sweets) and the PNG subject tends to appear black or the colour of your device theme background because it does not have it's own background.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

For the adding of sweet PROPS, I will be importing those above mentioned rendering and exported PNG image as PROPS onto is this below image of my OC female character I named (Aurora Savage),

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Now create a folder namely [prop 1], import the sweets that you want onto the background onto this folder by clicking on the shortcut icon, a dashboard will appear inside it is the [Import from device Library],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, before I do anything I first click on the Layer selection, in the dashboard is the imported layer,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I then create a new layer by clicking on the new layer icon and then click on the merge with the layer icon,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

To Merge they two layer into one, so as to be able to tilt and further do adjustment to the PNG to fit into the background.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Adjust the import material to any position you want it be using the object sub tool features which can move objects in all axis,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Use the process above to all the props in the folder mentioned above [prop 1],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Next, create another folder and repeat the various above process on the other props and place them in another created folder namely [prop 2],

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On another folder namely [prop 3],

I use the transformation features namely [free transform tool] to tilt (up, down or sideways), I also use it to rotate some of the sweets,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Also, I used the [mesh transformation tool] to distort some of the subject (sweets) to any direction to make it fit into the scene,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

I then also repeat this same above mentioned process again on the rest sets of the sweets in the folder namely [prop 3].

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

After those are done, create another folder name it [light 1] which I use to add light ray and reflection effects from the left onto the scene,

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

On again another folder namely [light 2] and add another sets of bright colours lightening.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

And this end the today's tutorial article, below is the end result image.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,

Further detailing by add dots and spot effects.

............................................,,,,,,,,,,
