1. Go outside and take pictures of fierce clouds. Let's take lots of pictures.

② Make the background black in Clip Studio Paint.

③Copy and paste part of the clouds. Set the layer to Hard Light.

④ Set the saturation to 0 in the hue/saturation section. Adjust the shading with the tone curve. ⑤ Use the transform to arrange it in a nice circle.

⑥The grey smoke is done.

Fill in the center with grey airbrush paint.

⑦ Erase the edges with an eraser so you can use it for a variety of illustrations.

It's good to use a soft eraser to blend the edges.

⑧ If lines appear where the smoke overlaps, use the fingertip tool or similar to blur and blend the smoke.

⑨ Add color using color balance. This is a grisaille technique.

You can also leave the smoke as gray. If you make it green or purple, it will look like poisonous smoke.

⑩ Your own explosion is complete

This explosion is meant to be a static illustration, but you can turn it into an explosion using the Cinemagraph app, morphing tools, etc.
