"I've finally finished drawing the characters! Now I have to draw the background!! But I put all my energy into the characters and I don't have the energy left to draw the background..."

For illustrators like you, we recommend

"Broken Glass Backgrounds"!!

"Broken glass is too much energy to draw! How many hours do you think it will take to draw it now!?"

For those of you who say this, you can use the 3D material broken glass to create a similar background in a short amount of time!

3D materials used

The material used is the 7th in my "Destruction Series"

[3D Broken Glass Effect]

  • You can choose from 30 levels of brokenness using the layout presets. D0 (non-destructive) → D30 (scattered)

  • Each piece of glass is independent, so you can fine-tune the placement to your liking

  • You can switch between opaque and transparent with the material presets

  • By outputting each level of glass as an image and connecting them, you can create a broken glass animation like the GIF above

By using this material, you can create a realistic broken glass background in a short amount of time.

Example 1: A background with glass radiating outwards

By applying perspective, you can create a background that looks like glass is radiating out.

<Settings>

Switch to layout preset D5

-> Apply strong perspective (rotate mouse wheel)

-> Change layer mode to luminous, add a color correction layer and change the hue to purple.

Example 2: Realistic cracked glass background

This is a method to change the broken glass to transparent and adjust the color to make it look more realistic.

Select the desired degree of cracking in the layout preset

-> Change the material preset to "clear" (this may slow down depending on the specs of your PC or tablet, so rasterization is recommended)

-> Clip the multiply or burn layers and the luminance layers to add light and dark contrast to create a glassy look

Example 3: Cracked ground

This is how to create the effect that occurs when a strong enemy emerges from underground.

<Settings>

Switch to layout preset D4

-> Change layer mode to subtraction

-> Select the glass individually and move it to the desired location so that the character's figure is visible.

Example 4: Shocking effects that can be used in manga

This is a way to create the effect often seen in manga when a character is shocked.

<Settings>

Switch to layout preset D4

→ Clip with white layer
