Preface

Spirit Bear (Spirit Bear**) and natural environment-themed pictures are based on the "Great Bear Rainforest" in British Columbia, Canada. There will be trees, stones, and rivers in this scene. I will give examples of different painting methods.

tree drawing

1.Use the [Tree Brush] in the [Background] column of the built-in [Decoration Brush] to draw trees and add a new layer with the trees as [Layer Clipping].

2. Then use the [Stippling] in the [Thick Paint] column of the [Brush] brush to start overlaying the shadows and highlights of the leaves. In order to better simulate the texture of leaves and bark, I adjusted the particle size and density. First use cool, dark colors to draw the shadows of the leaves, then use the main color to draw the secondary bright leaves, and finally use a color slightly lighter than the main color to draw the light-receiving leaves.

3.Use the [Leaf Brush] in the [Background] column of the built-in [Decoration Brush] to embellish the light-receiving leaves on the highlights of the tree or cover the unnatural parts.

How to draw stones and water

Please download the watercolor-sponge brushes first. These two brushes have good effects in simulating light and shadow and rough texture.

1. When painting a stone, pay attention to the changes in light, sub-light and dark surfaces. After deciding on the color, you can use a sponge brush to simulate the texture of the stone, and use the [Color Enhancement] and\ in the [Blending Mode] [Highlight Color]... and other effects to simulate changes in light.

2.Draw the background. After finishing the tree, use [Grass] in the [Background] column of [Decorative Brush] to increase the richness of the background.

3. Use the [Stippling] in the [Thick Coat] column of the [Brush] brush to overlay the light and shadow on the water surface, and then match the [Color Enhancement] in the [Blending Mode] and [Highlight Color]... and other effects, draw the dark and light parts of the water, select [Transparent] to remove the overly bright or dark areas. This is different from using an eraser in that it can maintain the unique characteristics of the brush. Please be sure to try the strokes. If you feel that the light and shadow are unnatural, you can also try using an enlarged sponge brush to simulate appropriate light and shadow, or select transparency to erase excessive effects.
