INTRODUCTION

Drawing characters in several planes may seem complex, but with a few simple techniques and steps, you will also need to first master the proportions of the human body and secondly master how to place them in a space, with this you can create dynamic and well-proportioned drawings in our Clip studio Paint software.

CLIP STUDIO PAINT INTERFACE

First of all, you will need to open the Clip Studio Paint interface and then configure the dimensions of your illustration.

Understanding Basic Proportions

Once on the blank page of our Software we will first understand the proportions of the human body, all this by using simple geometric shapes to sketch a character namely

- the head (an oval)

- the torso (a triangle or trapezoid)

- the arms and legs (cylinders or straight lines)

Definition of PLAN

the plane is the two-dimensional surface on which objects or shapes are located, the perspective plane can designate different layers of depth, for example a first plane which is the one closest to the observer a second plane which is an intermediate distance etc… For our character illustration we will first create our plane through the layer option

then we will choose the one vanishing point option because our drawing must be that simple

After that we have our work plan, the one that should allow us to draw the lines of our landscape easily and this should create a ruler layer that should play the role of reference

We will create a layer on top of this one and then we will draw the lines of our landscape itself, its lines will be parallel to the lines of the rules created to already have an overview of where to place our characters according to the different planes of our illustration.

To allow us to make curved lines as we wish, we go to the very top logo of the rulers and we deactivate this which should give us free movement, as you can see in this image

After that we can already start to put our characters according to each activity for my part I chose to make an illustration of a small family barbecue with a tree and the mountains as an environment in the last shot

NB: the closest plan is more visible and better detailed than the furthest one

Inking our illustration

After having already positioned our characters, we start inking them while respecting the details because you will notice that the closest couple is more detailed than the one furthest away.

Our drawing is clean and easy to understand with a better understood layout

Conclusion

Throughout this course, we were going to teach you how to draw several characters in a plane using the methods of our Clip Studio Paint software. I hope this has helped you to understand better and especially for those who would like to see a practical course, I have a video on my YouTube channel, go watch it and enjoy watching, see you soon for a new video.
