EASILY ANIMATE YOUR CHARACTERS
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone, regarding 2D animation it is better to start on paper and pencil before going in front of your screen or graphics tablet to give the illusion of movement on a flat surface. So for us in this development we have already prepared the character to animate, in this course we are going to make an animation according to one of the principles of 2D animation (slow in and slow out, timing, stagging, Arc etc…) all this using our CLIP STUDIO PAINT software.
NB: Please already know at least the principles of 2D animation because this is a great help for any beginner. because whether you are a beginner or experienced, learning the basics of 2D animation is essential to mastering this art, the 12 principles established by the pioneers of animation like Disney and Warner Bros are the foundations on which all animated movement is based, in Understanding its principles and applying them with Clip Studio Paint, you will be able to create fluid animations.
After having prepared our character, and mastered the scene and mastered the scene that we want to animate, we move on to opening the CLIP STUDIO PAINT software and we open a new file as follows:
Here we have several options that I have taken the trouble to number for better understanding:
1- this is the area where we choose the animation
2- File name
3- This is the area to configure the empty space of the animation area
4- it’s reading time
5- Choice zone for recording the animation
6- validation button
INTERFACE AND DEVELOPMENT
After opening the software we have this interface which includes (the timeline, the layers block, the pen block, the color circle and the options bar etc…) as we can see in the image below:
You should already know that the interface comes with an animation folder where inside we are going to add several layers of several movements, let's not forget that animation is a set of several movements
Let's get to the heart of the matter, namely the animation in question, to start drawing our character and the moving object and at the same time I also illustrated the diagram of my animation like slow in and slow out
Already know that the more layers you add, the more they are added to the timeline depending on the animation folder and the chronology as you will see in this image:
DEBUT ANIMATION
After drawing our character we open a new layer and we make sure to activate the peel paper option which will allow us to see the previous and next images and the corresponding colors for my part I chose the blue and red colors
Afterwards we continue to add the images as planned, in fact for this demonstration I opted for a simple scene like a person catching a fruit from their fall.
Bonus: put the shortcuts for adding layers and much more to make things easier for you
For this animation I opted for 12 images so we will detail this gradually and understand the movements, firstly I draw the key poses of my animation, my animation will include 3 key images as you see on the picture
subsequently I add the images in the intervals to make the image more homogeneous
FINAL RENDER
Here are all of my images for my animation already it should be noted that the more image there is between its key poses the more it will make fluid or it will give an impression of slow motion and the less image there is this will give a sense of rapid movement
And here is the final rendering of our Gif animation
So don't wait any longer, embark on the adventure of 2D animation with Clip Studio Paint and explore the multiple possibilities offered by this magnificent software.
Whether you are passionate about drawing, storytelling or simply curious to discover a new creative universe, 2D animation is an enriching experience that will allow you to give free rein to your imagination.
