Steps in making a WEBTOON

Story

Have a story in mind but don’t just make things up it’s better to have an actual outline.

Outline

A general description covering the main points of a subject. You aren’t writing the full story, only the bullet points that cover what happens in your WEBTOON.

Create simpable character

Character design is literally just as important as the story give people a reason to keep watching them. Spice up your character a little bit add a little to their clothing or faces.

Technical Stuff

Think about where you going to publish your comic. Lot’s of this sites have a certain requirements.

Example:

WEBTOON requirements - 800 px wide 1280 px long

Storyboard

Establish the settings - you want your viewers to know where the story is happening.

Draft - basically draw a rough sketch of how you want your art to look like. It could literally just be a stick man.

Tips

Work fast but with good quality - make your art as fast as possible without sacrificing the quality of your art. Webcomics are tedious and they’re going to take so long find shortcuts or else your going to be burnt out.

Copy and paste - if you want to draw your character’s changing emotions just copy and paste your drawing and just replace his expression. Don’t do this all the time use it moderately switch it up from time to time.

3D models - you don’t need to spend an hour perfecting the proportions just use 3D models If needed it’s more time saving.

Simplification - the only thing that matters are story and the characters the important thing is that you get your point across. You don’t need to do some awesome rendering simple shadows are fine.

Colors - there are two parts in coloring BASE color and SHADOW color. To make things easier create a color palette so you can just copy and paste the colors. Learn to separate the color layer of your drawings for example the color for your skin and hair be organized so that editing later on will be easy.

Panels - you need to draw this boxes also known as panels first before doing anything else the sketches are just there to help visualize where your going to put it.
