USE 3D MODLES TO DRAW YOUR CHARACTERS
Intro
Hi! I'm Kimmy. If you are tired of the tricky postures or angles in human figures and also don't want to waste your time adjusting the sketch again and again. Here is the right place for you! I gonna show you how the 3D models work on your character and save your time.
3D Modeling
First, we can click the small arrow on the right top of the window or just click the small icon as I did in GIF to open the body type asset.
Hold the figure you want and drag it to your canvas.
If you don't like the original body shape. There are other ways can fix it!
First option:
We can open the Clip Studio and click the CLIP STUDIO ASSET. You can type any kind of body type or posture you want.
Or click the side button beside the search bar that will show the frequent options for you and you can get the free one too!
When you find the perfect one just click it and click the download button on the top right corner. Then it will automatically show in your download folder in Clip Studio Paint as my next photo shows.
Second option:
Open the 3D model's tool detail window like I did on GIF. You can adjust the height and shape of the model. Especially in individual body parts!
Post & Angle
Now let's choose the model's pose!
There are a ton of official poses for you when you just download the Clip Studio Paint.
Under the 3D file, you can see there is a Post file. Find the one you like and drag it and release it on the 3Dmodel on the canvas.
Or you can find a new one from the Clip Studio too.
Like this one, I found from the Clip Studio.
Alright! Let's find the best camera angle!
Just like our life, there are many ways to do things.
You can click the camera icon like the image shows to decide the angle. Or click the left cycle camera icon on the model's top and drag on the canvas to find the angle you want.
Sketching
Alright! Let's start drawing our character!
First, create a new layer and name it Sketch or whatever you want to call it as long as you remember the layer is for the sketch.
Use the pencil tool to trace the 3D model's muscles to make a proper outfit.
And create another layer for the outline.
In the picture demonstration, I follow the model's muscles to adjust the wrinkles in the uniform also the hair touching the hand creates a small bend in the picture.
And the 3D model saved me a lot of time on the shoe's angle too!
Bang! We finish the character!
The 3D model truly saves us a lot of time and avoids from undoing and redoing circles.
Now we can creat more and more character by using the 3D model!
Last But Not The Least
There are many ways to do the same things. If you do have strong fundamental skills in human figures doesn't need to use the 3D model as a reference, that is good for you.
If you don't, that is ok you use the 3D model to assist you to pursue your artwork. Don't be ashamed to use any kind of tools to help you grow up. Have fun on your art journey!
