Introduction

Have you ever wanted to use a reference image in Clip Studio but don’t know how? Or eyedrop a color you found on the internet?

There is a simple and effective way to use a reference image, and it’s easy to use!

Note: I use a Mac, and the technical aspects of this tutorial may be slightly different from other devices, such as a PC or an iPad.

Sub View

Sub View is the name for the spot where reference photos go in Clip Studio. It is what I use for reference photos for outfits and colors.

Above: An example of me using Sub View for referencing outfits.

How to Use Sub View

To use Sub View, go to Windows in the top menu and look for Sub View. This is pictured below.

This will show up in the top right of your screen, in the same area as the navigator.

To import an image into Sub View, first download your desired image. Then, click the import button (pictured below) and find your image.

To delete an image from Sub View, simply click the trash can.

If you want to take a color from a reference image, click on the eyedropper in the Sub View area and take the color that you want.
