!! In the beginning!

This time I'd like to teach you how to make a gear using Crysta's ruler tool!

I want to draw gears, but it's too difficult to draw... A tool that can be downloaded is different from my image... After all, I have no choice but to draw! I would like to teach you how to easily draw for such people!

With a ruler tool, you can draw gears like this! Let's draw together~

STEP1 Make a circle with a special ruler

First, set the special ruler!

Select the special ruler in the ruler tool and open the tool properties.

"Concentric circles" in the item called special ruler in the tool properties.

Check the fixed aspect ratio below.

Once that is done, all you have to do is create it on your canvas!

It is okay if you have a ruler with the shape shown above.

Draw from above with your favorite pen tool

If you trace with your favorite pen tool from above, you could make a beautiful circle without distortion!

Is it an application, but is it a gear if traced from various positions? machine? For the time being, you can make such a circle, so why not try it if you get used to the special ruler?

I think it's a lot of fun~

STEP2 Draw a tooth model with a symmetric ruler

Next is the setting of the symmetrical ruler!

As before, open the tool properties and increase the number of lines.

It doesn't have to be increased, but it is much easier to increase! !! !! !!

If you are unfamiliar or want to save time, please increase it~

Draw again with your favorite pen tool

Make a symmetrical ruler in the center of the circle and then draw! (It may be easier to draw on a different layer)

As you can see in the picture above, just drawing one frame of the ruler will be reflected in the same way around, so to be honest, it is extremely convenient.

If you draw a square in one frame, it looks like a gear! I think it looks a lot like a gear as you saw the above figure!

Arrange the lines

Next, prepare as you like!

Eliminate or increase the lines as in the figure above... Add more shapes and add as you like~

Final step color freely

Finally, paint it as you like and it's done!

It can be metal or wood or whatever! Let's paint it as you want!

Bonus application!

Once you get used to the ruler tool, you will be able to draw various gears as shown above!
