Planning Your Character(s)

Hello! I'm DiamondSilvercrest, and today we will be covering drawing different poses. Let's get started!

So, the first step of drawing different poses is, obviously, deciding what and who your character is. My character is a dragon named Flint, and she is going to show you how you can get the perfect pose. Once you have your character formulated, draw a couple raw sketches of them to get an idea of what they will look like.

Draw A Closer Look

After doing a few raw sketches, create a new blank canvas and re-draw your character, this time adding more detail.

(If you are drawing an animal or creature, I would reccomend doing a detailed side view. If you are doing a person, I would suggest doing a front view.)

Drawing Different Poses

Now, for the real thing!

Now that we have our character(s), we can bein drawing different poses.

Now, you may be thinking, 'well, what do I do to get the pose I am imagining?'

There are a few ways:

One is to do a rough draft, then erase and improve. (1)

Another way is to measure and fit, using grid tools and plain lines for a very specific pose. (2)

A third way to do it is to just start drawing and edit as you go until you get the full effect. (3)

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE CHARACTER(S) IS DOING SOMETHING, TAKE IN TO ACCOUNT THE SURROUNDING OBJECTS. (4)

After drawing and experimenting with dfferent poses, you can color them also to create a wonderful character(s) bursting with life!

(I would suggest practicing with the pose you want to use befor putting it in a piece of art. Just my advice.)

Thanks for reading!!!

Sincerely, DiamondSilvercrest
