Hey you all amazing people, a very warm greetings to all of you once again~

I am back with yet an another tutorial . I know it's being quite a while since I've been here! And believe me or not I missed you guys so much and your encouraging words in the comments, which gives me so much motivation to write and share my experience with you<<3

Thank you so much again ^~^

F-I-G-H-T-I-N-G !!

I truly hope this tutorial will help you to widen up the horizon to imagine and channelize the exact imagination onto your canvas ^_^

So, without any further ado let's dive in!

So today we are going to know bit by bit about 'Drawing Hair'. It's a very large topic and we are gonna cover up quite a bit of it ~ from anatomy to the coloring process . And never forget the one trick that I will show you on how we can draw hairs for a character within just a minute! for that please continue reading ~~~

FACIAL ANATOMY : GENERAL IDEA

Before we going to The hair, we have to remember the general idea of the face anatomy and how it works. The skull is so important that we have to keep that in mind- ~~

***Never Ever draw hair without drawing the outline of the Head.

Take a look at the Image below, where I've pointed out most of the important details about the Face anatomy.

If you are gonna draw bangs, just lower the lowest hair line~

For realistic hair, please make sure to draw the outer line of the hair a bit above the head's outline.

And always follow the Gravity to define the Hair flow~

An example for better understanding ^~^

Now then, I think we have an overall idea of the Head and the Facial anatomy so let's move forward !

DIFFERENT TYPES OF HAIR : HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE AND DRAWING TIPS!

As an artist, drawing the perfect Hair is a very important part of building a character . Hair can portrait a character's very own characteristics and helps us to build the nature of a character according to our storyline!

And as we know there are mainly three types of Hair~

1] Straight Hair

2] Curly Hair

3]Wavy Hair

Let's take a look at the image below,

Here we can see all the different types of hairs at once! And also the basic difference between them.

So, let's go one by one and break them down ~~

***( Please keep the Arrows in mind , this way it will be a lot more easier )

1. STRAIGHT HAIR :

2. CURLY HAIR :

3. WAVY HAIR :

Now I know you all can draw and slay any hair as you like! Good work guys, so let's move forward to the next part.

HOW TO DRAW NATURAL LOOKING HAIR : IMPORTANT TIP

We all want our characters to be perfect. But sometime we tend to miss little details!

Let's discuss it with an example, so please take a look at the image bellow ~

***The place where hairs tend to fall towards the gravity, whether it is short hair or long always remember to have a gap between the outline of the skull and hair.

I used to mess this up in the past! A lot!

COMPLETE PROCESS OF DRAWING ( COLORING ) HAIR : STEP BY STEP

Now's the fun part! Let's draw some Hair~ ^-^

1. SKETCHING :

Let me do some outline sketching ~~ done!

now let's moving forward to the next part , which is Lineart!

2. LINEART :

I am just Clearing out the sketch and finalize the hair!

TIP: You guys can work with any brushes for the lineart, I personally prefer the G pen and after I am done with the lineart I normally use the Gaussian Blur to a range from 6-8% .

3. BASE COLOR :

Just fill with any color you like.

You can use the Fill Tool for it.

4. SHADING :

Now this is where the actual fun begins!

Create a new layer and select "Clip to Layer below".

Now take a darker color than your base color, try selecting the color from brighter side like this one. And point out the darker portions.

TIP: Please keep this as minimum as possible and don't over do it ^~^

5. SHADOWS AND CONTOUR :

Giving your hair the dark shadows and doing the proper contouring is very important!

Create another layer and again select "Clip to Layer Below" . Now choose "Multiply" mode to start to do the detailing.

Choose another darker color but this time a lot darker tone and start point all the dark spots.

6. HIGHLIGHTS :

Now it's glow time! My favorite~

Create another layer and select "Add(Glow) " mode.

Decrease the opacity of the brush and just to he places where light hits!

7. SOME FINAL TOUCHES :

Now some more detailing , adding some loose hairstrands and we are done!

That's easy right ?

Now Let's review the complete process one more time with the color palette.

Let's go!

HOW TO DRAW HAIR IN JUST WITHIN ONE MINUTE : QUICK TIP

** BRUSH NO. 1

** BRUSH NO. 2 :

** BRUSH NO. 3 :

Using this brushes we can simplify the process quite a lot but just remember this are brushes so you can not only depend on them completely. What you guys can do is make the outline of the skull then use the brushes to make the lower hair of your character . Then complete the drawing by doing the top of the hair yourself ( the upper head part ).

***Make only the lineart for the part you have drawn and just merge the layer with the layer with the lower hair.

CONCLUSION :

So this is it for today guys.

Hope this tutorial helps!

See you again next time :)

let's meet again in the next one, till then~
