Hello, my dear creative comrades!It's Moonstar here. Hope you are having a good day. Today I am going to share a fun and easy way to Constellation Illustrations. I will request you to read the whole post 1st before starting drawing straight. Thank you.

2📌What is this constellation? 🤔

A constellation is a group of stars that appears to form a pattern or picture like Orion the Great Hunter, Leo the Lion, or Taurus the Bull. Constellations are easily recognizable patterns that help people orient themselves using the night sky. There are 88 “official” constellations.

Star charts🔮

A star chart is a celestial map of the night sky with astronomical objects laid out on a grid system. They are used to identify and locate constellations, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and planets. They have been used for human navigation since time immemorial

Star myths 🌟

The zodiac signs and many other astrological concepts have roots in Greek Mythology. Ancient Greeks were fascinated by the stars and constellations in the night sky. So some constellations were named after greek mythological characters and some were named after zodiac signs. So, you are supposed to imagine those characters or signs( you have full freedom to imagine however you want. I mean imagine a creepy or cute Leo♌) along with the stars.

3📌Night sky🌌

There are so many types when it comes to night sky. You can draw the one you prefer according to the look you are going for. Only night sky or mountains or a lake or a village under the sky. My process - 1❣️Open Mr.CSP(aka Clip Studio Paint😍)

2❣️Open a canvas as you want ( I opened 16:9 canvas from illustration segment)

3❣️Go to Tool bar👉Gradient tab👉Night sky

4❣️Draw a line on the canvas. I did like [ \ ] this.

And the night sky base is ready for my terrible drawing~. I broke my stylus and drawing with fingers so I am hoping you will understand, friends 😅

4📌Let's draw constellation motifs~!🫶

1❣️ First select which constellation motif/motifs you are going to draw. I will select Orion (named after Orion, a hunter in Greek mythology. It is a prominent constellation located on the celestial equator and visible throughout the world)

2❣️Search for references( ask Uncle Google 🥸 or pinterest bro😎).Analyse it.

3❣️Create a new layer above the night sky layer.👉rename Sketch 👉

4❣️ Pick any brush-I am using pencil

5❣️Put dots in place of stars. Put bigger dots for bigger stars.

6❣️Connect them. Tool bar-line-Straight line.

7❣️ Now, you can only draw and connect them or you can also draw the Greek characters or zodiac signs. Skip this if you want. You can draw however you want. By analysing the references you can see there are different ways to draw a character or sign. Well you just need to place the stars correctly with eye measurement ( no need for actual accurate measurement) and draw in your way like a cute Orion or a creepy Orion. Funny Mr. Orion or detailed painting type Oooriiiooon.🥸 Same goes for others. Now do your sketch happily how much you want. 🤗

Tsk, It's not even a sketch dear lazy me🫣

8❣️Lower the sketch opacity.

9❣️Create a new layer above the sketch layer👉rename Outlines 👉blending mode Add glow( there is written normal^, click on it to discovere more blending modes🪄😲)

10❣️Now if you have looots of messy lines it is high time to go over and draw clean, necessary lines. For the connecting part you can either draw straight line like before or dotted lines.

Choose one. I just did this to show you.

11❣️So once you are happy with your outlines( I am not, ignore) you can go head and hide the sketch layer.

12❣️you can reshape or reposition if you need.

13❣️create new layer above outlines 👉Rename Stars 👉blending mode add glow again.

14❣️Low outlines layer’s opacity to pop out the stars🌟. For me here opacity 40%

15❣️Use star brush and put stars on the dots according to the dot's size.

16❣️Go to Airbrush bar👉soft👉 tap on the stars.

17❣️ Choose a light color. I chose light blue.👉Fill inside the outlines( the way you use. Any filling process)👉Play with opacity not to look intense. For me here opacity 8%

18❣️create a new layer and put it above night sky.

19❣️Go to Airbrush bar👉Spray👉Sprinkle some stars. Make sure you change the brush size a few times so the stars will be of various sizes.

You can also make it glow with airbrush or other way if you want.

20❣️you can also draw secondary random constellations or use constellation brush in the background if you want

5📌Preferrences & Creativeness🪄

When it comes to art style, brush type, smooth or textured sky- you can choose your preferred one. You can use these stars for decoration or you can remake them however you want. You can invent your own constellations like my intro picture. In that case, you have to draw the outlines first before dots or stars and then put stars along the lines. Make them of different sizes. You can put different colours too -
