Sometimes some people struggle on drawing the head or face in any angles including me so I developed my own technique on drawing it in any direction. You can use the loomis method or any of that, personally I like to draw a MASK shape thing it’s more easy for me.

I put my reference photo side by side with my drawing so that I can get the proper proportions.

Mask Shapes

Design shapes or shape language it interprets the personality of your character.

 

Triangle - action, aggressive, dynamic, dangerous, tension

Circle - soft, kind, safe, flowing, welcoming, sensual, cute

Rectangle - rigid, strong, structured, secure, solid, firm

Head or face angles using mask technique

Just imagine a simple box or a mask being rotated 360 degrees. For me I avoid using circle as much as possible mask are more interesting to look at.

Using this technique brings out immediately the personality of your character with just simple shape and lines. Just by putting the nose in the center you know exactly where to put the eyes and mouth just by eye balling it.
