How to Create an OC in Clip Studio Paint
1. Concept and Sketching:
Brainstorming: Develop your OC's personality, backstory, and visual style. Consider their appearance, clothing, and accessories.
Sketching: Use a pencil tool or a light brush to sketch out your OC's pose and basic proportions. Don't worry about details at this stage, focus on the overall composition.
2. Line Art:
Line Art Layer: Create a new layer for your line art.
Pen Tool: Use a pen tool with a suitable brush size and pressure sensitivity to trace over your sketch.
Clean Lines: Pay attention to line weight and smoothness. Thicker lines can emphasize contours, while thinner lines can add detail.
3. Base Colors:
Color Layers: Create separate layers for each color area (skin, hair, clothing, etc.).
Color Picker: Use the color picker to select colors from a reference image or color palette.
Fill Tool: Fill in the base colors using the fill tool or bucket tool.
4. Shading and Lighting:
Shading Layer: Create a new layer for shading.
Airbrush Tool: Use an airbrush tool to blend shadows and highlights.
Color Overlay: Add a color overlay layer to adjust the overall color tone.
Multiply Layer: Use a multiply layer to darken shadows.
Screen Layer: Use a screen layer to lighten highlights.
5. Details and Effects:
Texture: Add texture to your OC's clothing, hair, or skin using patterns, noise, or custom brushes.
Lighting Effects: Create dramatic lighting effects using gradients, overlays, and screen layers.
Line Art Refinement: Adjust the line art to better fit the shading and lighting.
Background: Add a background to your OC, whether it's a simple color or a complex scene
