Tutorial on brush assets, eyes creations and coloring techniques.

3/4 view technique by a reference photo

Download the image material called: “ Anime eyes b&w “ or you could make your own anime-style eyes.

Print the image on a 8.5 x 11 inches page.

Fold the page in half. Make sure that the eyes are on the opposite side from each other.

Take a picture of your favorite angle of your anime eyes.

This is the photo I will working on as a reference.

Brush Showcase: use in the illustration

These brushes are in the default software pack.

Eyes contours lines

Use the brush SHS-ShaD | N inside the eyes on the same layer.

Duplicate this layer and change its color to mauve.

On the grey eyes layer, use the blur tool.

Place your blur eyes layer on the top of the mauve eyes layer. Make sure that the blur eyes layer is multiply.

Eyes coloring

Select the eyes areas with the selection tool. Add a new layer and color the eyes with the gradient tool on overlay. Duplicate the same layer.

Use the soft air brush on overlay in a new layer.

Skin coloring

Below the eyes contours lines layers, add a new layer and use the blurred edge watercolor brush. Pick the beige color for the skin.

with the same brush and on a new layer, add pink color to the skin.

A new layer again, add beige color on top of the pink color.

With all the three layer: beige + pink + beige. Merge them together. Use the blend tool on your skin layer merged.

Use the brush SHS-ShaD | N with a pink color on the skin.

Special effects and details

With the soft air brush, add some shadows in the eyes.

Add some highlights with the stronger air brush in white.
