What is pixiv FACTORY?

With pixiv FACTORY, a web service operated by pixiv, even first-time users can easily submit and order data from a single book. It is ideal for selling without inventory or commemorative production in small quantities!

 

In this course, we will explain how to create manuscript data for pixivFACTORY and upload the created manuscript data.

 

 

STEP1 Manuscript data creation

Create the manuscript data to submit on pixiv FACTORY. Please read [A] or [B] according to the creation method.

 

 

[A] Create new manuscript data with CLIP STUDIO PAINT

[Procedure overview]

■ 1. [New] Create a file

 

Select [File] menu > [New].

 

In the [New] dialog, set the following items.

 

① Use of work: [Doujinshi submission]

(2) File name: Enter the work file name.

(3) Destination: Click [Browse], specify the location where the work management folder will be created, and select [OK].

④ Doujinshi Settings: Select [pixivFACTORY BOOKS] from [Doujinshi Printing Office].

⑤ Bookbinding (finishing) size: Select the format of the book you want to create.

⑥ [Multiple pages]:

・[Number of pages]: Enter the total number of pages including the cover page of the work.

Enter "24" here.

*The number of pages for pixiv FACTORY that can be created with CLIP STUDIO PAINT is 12 to 90 pages (86 pages for text), including 4 pages for the cover.

*For more than 90 pages, please refer to the column below.

・[Binding position]: Select according to the work to be created.

⑦ Noble: Checked in the initial state. The page number is required for the work data for pixivFACTORY, so please do not uncheck it.

 

After completing the settings, click [OK] in the upper right.

A new doujinshi work file has been created.

 

*This course is explained in black-and-white manuscripts.

When creating a manuscript with color text, refer to the column below to set it.

 

 

■ 2. Manuscript preparation

 

Create a manuscript by adding a cover picture and text to the created work file.

 

[Column: About manuscript templates for pixiv FACTORY]

The manuscript template for pixivFACTORY does not have a margin outside the cutout.

[Canvas size] (whole page) and [To crop mark bleed] are set to the same size.

 

With normal manuscript paper, there is a margin on the outside of the cut, so you can draw pictures and frames that extend beyond the margin. there is.

Be careful not to draw insufficiently by treating the cut off part as a blank space.

 

*Details on export settings are explained in STEP2.

 

When you have finished creating the manuscript, proceed to "STEP 2 Manuscript data output".

[B] Edit already created manuscript data for pixivFACTORY

If you already have manuscript data created with CLIP STUDIO PAINT, you can create data for upload by converting the data for pixivFACTORY.

 

In addition, the number of pages of works for pixiv FACTORY that can be created with CLIP STUDIO PAINT is from 12 pages to 90 pages (86 pages of text), including 4 pages for the cover.

*If the book you want to create is more than 90 pages, please refer to the column below.

  • The number of pages that can be submitted with pixiv FACTORY is 12 pages (8 pages of text) to 200 pages (196 pages of text).

■ 1. Duplication (backup) of the work folder

 

It is necessary to change the format of the cover and text to match the format uploaded to pixiv FACTORY.

Make a copy as a backup before editing the data for pixivFACTORY, as it will be difficult to undo any changes.

*Change the file name to make it easier to understand.

 

 

■ 2. Change basic work settings

 

Change the [Resolution] and [Finished bookbinding size] of the cover and text to match the specifications of pixivFACTORY.

 

First, in CLIP STUDIO PAINT, open the work file to be edited for pixivFACTORY.

Select [Open] from the [File] menu.

 

In the [Open] dialog, select the work file (.cmc format).

 

The work file is opened.

 

Select the [Page management] menu at the top > [Change basic work settings].

 

If [Use of work] is displayed in the [Change basic work settings] dialog, select [Show all comic settings].

 

Follow the steps below to change the settings.

 

① [Unit]: Set to [mm] (to calculate the cover thickness in mm)

(2) [Cover resolution]: Set to "350" dpi.

③ [Finished bookbinding size]:

For B5: width "182" mm, height "257" mm, bleed width "3.00" mm

For A5: width "148" mm, height "210" mm, bleed width "3.00" mm

*Since the size of the canvas is automatically determined by the finished bookbinding size, enter this first.

④ [Canvas]:

For B5: width "188" mm, height "263" mm, resolution "600" dpi

For A5: width "154" mm, height "216" mm, resolution "600" dpi

This canvas size is the size that matches the manuscript template for pixivFACTORY.

 

*This course explains the procedure for black-and-white manuscripts.

When creating a manuscript with color text, refer to the column below to set it.

 

⑤ [Foliage]:

Check the Noble. The folio is required, so be sure to check the box.

⑥ [Doujinshi settings]:

Change [Doujinshi Printing Office] to [pixivFACTORY].

 

After setting everything, click [OK].

 

A warning/confirmation message will be displayed if there is a problem with the changed settings.

*If the cover is not created with a double-page spread, the item [The specified printing shop recommends a double-page spread cover.] will be displayed, but this is not a problem as it will be changed in the next step.

 

If there are warnings for items other than spreads, check your settings.

If there are no problems, click [Continue].

 

If you change the resolution of the cover or text in [Basic work settings], the following confirmation message will be displayed.

Click OK.

 

The work basic settings have been changed.

 

 

■ 3. Spread the cover and set the spine width

 

Cover data for pixivFACTORY must be a spread image.

 

If Table 1 and Table 4 are created on separate pages, they must first be spread.

*If the cover is already spread, it will be necessary to adjust the spine width. Proceed to <If you only need to adjust the back width>.

 

<If the cover is not a double-page spread>

Right-click with the cover (Table 1) selected from the work list. Select [Change to spread] from the menu that appears.

 

When the [Change to Spread] dialog is displayed, enter a value in [Gap]. The value is obtained according to the formula below.

・Calculation formula: (number of pages in text ÷ 2) x (thickness of text paper X.XXmm) + (thickness of cover X.XXmm) x 2

*Upper limit 6mm

 

  • The thickness of the cover and text paper varies depending on the paper. Please check the thickness of each from the bottom of the following page.

After entering a value for the interval, click the [OK] button.

 

The cover has become a double-page spread.

The manuscript data is now ready.

Proceed to "STEP 2 Manuscript data output".

 

<If you only need to adjust the back width>

If the cover is already spread, follow the steps below to adjust the spine width.

 

For the cover data uploaded to pixivFACTORY, it is necessary to adjust the spine width in advance according to the number of pages of the text.

Calculate the back width using the formula below.

 

・Calculation formula: (number of pages in text ÷ 2) x (thickness of text paper X.XXmm) + (thickness of cover X.XXmm) x 2

*Upper limit 6mm

 

  • The thickness of the cover and text paper varies depending on the paper. Please check the thickness of each from the bottom of the following page.

Select the cover from the work list, right-click, and select [Change basic page settings] from the menu that appears.

 

When the [Change basic page settings] dialog is displayed, set as follows.

(1) Check if the unit is [mm].

(2) Align the registration marks: Enter the value obtained for the spine width in [Gap].

(3) Finally, click the [OK] button.

 

Back width adjustment is complete.

Now that the manuscript data is ready, proceed to "STEP 2 Manuscript data output".
