Add white around the character

New layer → Fill around the character

Select the character layer\

If the layers are separated, such as raster and vector, put them in a folder\

Click the folder icon while holding down the Ctrl key → Select the layer

Selection → Expand Selection

Select the layer that filled in the area around the character
