MAKING YOUR NAME INTO A WORK OF GRAFFITI ART!
INTRO
Ever wanted to make some sort of cool name tag for yourself but never known how you could design it? In this tutorial you will learn how to make your name in graffiti!
TO START
To start find a couple of cool reference images of the graffiti alphabet. I like this style of graffiti, but there are also many others too reference off of!
You will notice that most of the images you find of graffiti are wild and very artistically made. Apply this to your graffiti name!
SKETCH
Once you have your reference images, start on your sketch of your name, as an example I'm going to use the name Jen.
Using your reference images sketch the name in your graffiti text.
I've made a very rough draft, but I will clean it up in my next step.
INKING/DETAILING
Using my sketch, I trace over it with my hard airbrush pen.
If you want you can also make your lineart in ink, this gives it a bold effect like so:
Once you have decided what your lineart style will be, add your details, and base colors.
Here is my base color! And now I'm going to move onto final touching up and detailing!
FINISHING YOUR ART
To start finishing (the irony) I'm going to use the "shrink selection" tool.
Make a new layer.
And fill the selection ON THE NEW LAYER (this is VERY important!!!) with black like so.
I'm now going to select the "Scale/Rotate" tool,
once it is highlighted, move it to where you letters can cast a shadow,(this is entirely up to you) and move the color layer to the top.
And there we have it!! Perfectly sized shadow without even copieing and pasting!
LIGHTING
Just to give your graffiti a bubbley look, were going to use the hard airbrush to make the sun's glare.
And voila'! We have a simple graffiti style name!
THANK YOU
Thank you for staying with me until the end! I hope this tutorial was helpful! Until next time!
