Create a dragon (the process I am used to
Hi! Hi everyone. I am Zhidi, today I will show you how I draw dragons.
The teaching content is very simple, mainly recording the process.
I hope it can help you a lot, or arouse your desire to create.
Don't talk nonsense~ Let's get started!
1. Start with the skeleton
First of all, I draw a simple skeleton like this. I used to start with a square for the dragon’s head first, and then use a line to represent the spine. When drawing the spine, I probably have to think about the size or movement of your dragon, and then Add the ribcage and the pelvis that connects the thighs.
I use two sticks together as the pelvis. I think this way can express the relative position and relationship of the pelvis and thigh bones simply and correctly. Different body types simply change the length and angle of the sticks, which is convenient and simple.
As for the chest cavity, it depends on personal habits.
Simply draw the skeleton of the limbs and add the upper and lower jaws to the face.
For the hand part, I used to draw the scapula first, and then grow the hand.
Next is to paint a simple skin and flesh to design the approximate appearance of the dragon.
By the way, this type of skeleton can be changed differently
For example: hands with wings, no hands, no wings
After the skin and flesh are drawn, you can also add a little texture to provide more basis for adding scales or carapace to the dragon later.
Below I will provide you with several different types of skeletons.
Quadruped
Human-shaped skeleton can also be used
There are many other types, just draw them according to the same logic.
Of course, if you really don’t have much inspiration, you can also refer to animals. It’s also very interesting to study animals to modify.
In addition, many experts on the Internet have reproduced the skeleton and texture of paleontology, which are also great reference materials.
Next, start the explanation of each part from the "head".
2. How to draw the head
1. Start with the square to define the angle of the head.
2. Draw the upper jaw and lower jaw. You can draw a rough outline here. If the angle is too difficult, you can use squares to define it.
3. The head shape of the dragon is basically designed here.
4. Add decoration and styling design, you can add more details, just follow your own creative method.
3. How to draw forelimbs
1. The skeleton is drawn with simple shapes.
2. Draw the shape of the upper skin meat design hand.
You can draw some textures or reference lines in the skin and flesh stage to provide some basis for the scales, armor, and sharp corners to facilitate your design.
Of course, if you already have a clear inspiration and direction, it is also feasible to grow scales and long armor directly. After all, the purpose of the reference line is just a subsidy.
3. Add decorations such as scales, armor, etc.
The two different directions of the feet are provided on the right side of the first picture for reference.
Different design methods are provided here
The drawing logic of the forelimbs can also be applied to different sizes or types.
You can try to draw and see by yourself.
4. How to draw hind legs
The logic and the front foot are basically the same.
In fact, no matter which part it is, it doesn't look good to draw it anyway. Just refer to animals or ancient creatures directly.
Learning the muscle distribution of real animals can make your designs more convincing when designing dragons or fantasy creatures.
5. How to draw wings
The most intuitive reference for the wing skeleton is the bat.
For the flesh and skin of the first two verses, I was basically painting with human hands (laughs
In the end, the logic is basically the same, drawing reference lines or muscles to determine the direction of the scales and armor.
You can also decorate the wing membrane with some patterns.
6. How to draw the tail
The logic of the tail drawing is the same, and does not need to be explained too much.
It is okay to draw the tail very simply, after all, most of the time the tail is behind the picture.
In fact, many people here should have discovered that I have tried to use the same element in every part of the design.
Basically, drawing a dragon is like this. You set your dragon in what environment and ability it has at the beginning, and simply give him a few basic elements. As long as you maintain these basic elements, your dragon will not The design is too ugly.
7. Design the whole dragon!!
I picked this one out for painting, please watch the video next.
However, there is no explanation in the film, only the recording process.
And this is the first time I have recorded the painting process, the cut is quite positive, please bear with me XDDDD
Because of the time, I couldn't sort out a complete coloring process.
Only this process video is for everyone to watch.
But basically, my use of colors is not very complicated, rather simple, I hope I can help you.
This time it is not so much teaching as it is to record my own process of drawing dragons. I have also learned a lot in the process of organizing.
That's it, thank you for watching.
