Introduction

The layers are necessary to organize our drawings to add details or erase a defective line in this tutorial I will show you the functions and their different uses to maintain order and work faster with our drawings

Windows and Functions

Windows

In these windows we can search, edit, delete and add effects to improve our drawings and have more order in terms of the procedure and final finish of our drawing

A. layer.

here we can organize adjust the opacity define blending modes of our layers to have an order in our work

 

B. layer property.

Here we can add effects such as a plot for comics, contours of the watercolor border and even change the color of our illustration and make it look striking

 

C. search for layer.

Here we can search for our layers by adding clues so that the application's neural engine can our lost layer in case we have more than 20 layers or it is similar to another to erase any defect found in it or change any configuration

Window Features

With these functions we can accelerate our workflow in the application to work faster and smarter when we are going to draw

1. Trim

we can add strokes above the base layer

 

2. Reference

we can paint without getting out of line with some brushes

 

3 Set as sketch layer

to separate our sketch from the lineart

 

4. Lock Layer

so as not to stain on that layer in case we erase the last one

 

5. Lock transparent pixels

to be able to paint in the area without leaving the line

 

6. New raster layer

add a pixel layer to start the illustration add details or draw below the line

 

7. New vector layer

add vector layer to edit strokes and 3D objects

 

8. New layer folder

to organize our drawing or vector layers in case there are many

 

9. Create layer mask / Apply layer mask

select an area to paint only on it and / merge the mask with the selected layer

 

10. Transfer to bottom layer / Combine with bottom layer

we can combine our drawing with that of the lower layer leaving a blank layer to start another / we combine the two layers without leaving a trace of it

 

11. Delete layer

we delete an empty or unwanted layer

 

12. Show layer in 2 panels

This is in case we have more illustrations in our window or if we have many layers and we cannot see the previous ones to edit them

 

13. Change palette color

This is in case we want to customize our workspace or to point to a specific layer in case it gets lost and find it quickly

 

14. Combination modes

These are very useful if you are using watercolor brushes or adding voluminous details to your illustration as final finishes.

 

15. Change layer color

as its name says you can use this as an alternative gradient map to make your illustration rustic or modern with a maximum of 2 colors

 

16. Opacity

with it you can make your layer with a more opaque color scale and almost similar to the background to make your lineart or make an illustration without lineart and have guides for your sketch or make your illustration an opaque effect

 

17. Edge effect

With it we can give our illustration a relief that characterizes the character or thing on that layer, it is advisable to use it with cartoons such as anime manga or own style if the character or thing is transparent when creating a sticker

 

18. Plot

this is a halftones or screentone to illustrations like black and white comic or manga or characterize some text or image

 

19.Color of layer

this is like one or another alternative before mentioned gradient map only this is express and you can only add a color as for a scene of a comic that is very intriguing

 

20. Modes of expression

This is in case you want to change the functions mentioned above to multi-color, gray or monochrome.

 

21. Show these layers

This is where we are going to add the layer or blending or expression modes in case we lost any of our layers in case we want to export it, copy or delete any defect

 

22. Include

Here the texts, vector images, ect, will be included to find our lost layer faster

 

23. Exclude

here we can exclude text comic bullets or reference layer ect so as not to add it in the tracks of our lost layer
