3D figures for beginners

We are going to learn how we can make poses for our characters. We will achieve this in a simple way through the Tools that ClipStudio Paint offers us.

The first thing we have to do is go to the right section with the doll icon that says "3D Material".

Clicking on the 3D Material icon will bring up this list of options. We are going to go to the tab that says “Body Type (or Type of Body in Spanish)”. We select one of the 2 characters that appear (Female and Male) depending on the character that we are going to make.

To place our character on the canvas is as simple as selecting the 3D figure and without releasing the click, drag to our drawing canvas and release.

With our 3D model on the canvas we can start modifying the pose. However, you have to know well the floating tools that appear to us. A series of icons appear at the top.

1. The first 3 are used to view the model from different angles (we can rotate, move and zoom).

2. The other tools are used to move the 3D figure in a general way.

If you select some of the "purple dots" you can start modifying the character's pose.

How to make poses with our 3D figure?

By using the "purple points" we can modify the body's pose, however, if we select a part of the body, the proper parameters will appear to move or rotate the selected part.

In this way we can leave our character as we wish; It's just play and find the best pose.

However, ClipStudio Paint offers us a series of default poses, which we can use for our projects. These presets are found in the same right section of the 3D figures, but this time in the “Pose” subcategory.

We can slide over the large number of predefined poses and choose the one that we like the most. To do this, just click on the pose that we have chosen, drag and drop on our 3D figure.

And in such a simple way we can apply a pose to our character.

How to modify the Body Shape?

To modify the shape of the body, we have to select our character and go to the tools that are at the bottom. There we select the “tool icon” and a box will appear.

In this box we will go to the “3D Shapes” section. We will find 3 important sections:

1. Select the whole body (This is useful to define the type of the body, whether it is slim, chubby or muscular).

2. We can modify each part of the body at will (If we take the cross to the right part, the selected part will be thickened. If we previously defined a muscular body, then the selected area will be thickened with muscle; and so it happens with each body type).

3. We select the type of body.

And in such an easy and simple way we can generate any type of body, it's just a matter of playing and developing creativity.
