Introduction

Hi everyone! Today, I'm going to show you how to use Vector Layers in Clip Studio Paint. Vector Layers are a powerful tool for artists and designers, as they allow you to create clean, sharp lines and shapes that can be easily edited and resized without losing quality. Let's get started!

Setting up Vector Layers

First, we need to create a new Vector Layer. To do this, simply go to the Layers Panel, click on the "New Layer" button, and select "Vector Layer" from the drop-down menu.

or you can use the shortcut next to the Raster Layer with a box icon

Vector tools

They are many vector tools you could use in your illustrations but today I am going to show you five tools I personally use for my piece as well of the benefits of these selected few.

1.Curve tool

The Curve Tool in Clip Studio Paint is a drawing tool that allows you to create smooth, curved lines easily. It's particularly useful for creating precise, complex shapes or objects that require curved lines. When using the Curve Tool, you can adjust the curvature and position of the line by adding and moving control points. This allows for greater control and precision in your drawing. Additionally, the Curve Tool allows you to create closed shapes or outlines by connecting the endpoints of your curve, which is useful for creating vector objects. Overall, the Curve Tool is a powerful feature in Clip Studio Paint that can help streamline your workflow and improve the accuracy of your illustrations.

2.Vector Magnet

The Vector Magnet is a tool that helps create smooth, curved lines by adjusting the direction of your path automatically. It uses magnetic forces to attract your lines to specific areas such as lines, shapes, or other anchor points for easier alignment and professional-looking illustrations. Adjust the "Magnetism" slider for the desired strength. A powerful tool for precise, clean vector drawings

3.Vector eraser

The Vector Eraser works by removing parts of your vector paths, while keeping the rest of the path intact. This means that you can erase individual parts of your lines and shapes, or entire sections of your illustration, without having to redraw the entire image from scratch.

To use the Vector Eraser in Clip Studio Paint, simply select the Vector Eraser tool from the toolbar, and then erase the parts of your illustration that you want to remove. You can also adjust the size and shape of the eraser brush to fit your specific needs.

-Erase Touched Areas

"Erase Touched Areas" for vector layers in Clip Studio removes parts of vector path touching specific color/material for precise adjustments.

-Erase up to intersection

"Erase up to Intersection" in Clip Studio Paint removes portions of vector paths up to intersection with other paths for clean and precise connections.

-Erase Whole line

"Erase Whole Line" is a vector layer feature that erases the whole path at once, useful for quick removal of lines or shapes. It speeds up workflow and makes adjustments easier.

In conclusion, Clip Studio Paint offers several powerful vector eraser tools that are designed to make it easier to create precise, high-quality vector illustrations and designs. From "Erase Touched Areas" to "Erase up to Intersection" and "Erase Whole Line," these tools offer a range of options for quickly and efficiently making adjustments to your vector paths. Whether you are an experienced vector artist or just starting out, these tools can help streamline your workflow and improve the accuracy and quality of your vector artwork in Clip Studio Paint.

4. Adjust Line Width

"Adjust Line Width" is a feature in Clip Studio Paint that allows you to change the thickness of a selected line in a drawing or illustration. This tool is useful for making subtle or dramatic changes to the appearance of your artwork. It can be accessed by selecting a line and adjusting the width value in the Tool Property panel or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+W. The Adjust Line Width feature is available for both raster and vector layers, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of digital art projects in Clip Studio Paint.
