First of all you have to prep, you will be needing a square canvas.

I prefer to use a 1000x 1000 but the recommended size is more of a 800x800 to a 180x180.

First you must know what you want in mind so you can take out your references.

For this I will be using one of my OCs

After setting up you can start with your rough draft, make sure you try your best after all, people will be viewing it.(By the way no need to follow the size of my canvas and resolution just go with what you are comfortable with :D)

Something rough would do then you can proceed to add more details or just what you usually do.

When doing the line art make it kind of bold but not too much just enough to see the main details, also I forgot too mention this very important detail it may be obvious but when doing a profile picture you want to have a main focal point like something when people look at focus on.

So if you are done after the line art you can choose to be lazy and say "Yay I am done" or you can choose to colour it black and white or with colours🌈

So me trying not to be lazy decides to colour this.

I decided to change her mouth to a smile to show the chillness

And what you can do to check if that is what you want use the ellipse selection tool try to make a circle, press invert selection area and you can color it black.

You should end up with something like this.

Make sure to do the checking on the other layer.
