Introduction

For those who want to draw hands but find it difficult, or who want to enjoy drawing hands

I will teach you how to use "3D materials".

We have also prepared a video, so if you understand Japanese, please refer to it.

If you use 3D materials with Crysta,

Cute hands of beautiful girls and cool hands of handsome guys

You can make it immediately without drawing.

Unlike image materials, you can adjust the angle etc.

You can use it according to your own drawing.

Once you learn how to use it, you may never need to draw hands again.

If you want to draw yourself, how about using it as a drawing material?

Introduction of 3D materials

Let's download the hand material in CLIP STUDIO ASSETS.

This time, hoge1123's "3D male hand" and "**3D female hand" "Use the.

Despite its high quality, the price is affordable at 10CP, so it is recommended for beginners.

How to use 3D materials

3D materials can be used immediately after downloading.

Before using the downloaded material, I will briefly explain how to use the 3D material.

3D materials are operated with [Operation tools][Object].

Click the leftmost icon of [Move Manipulator]

Drag to rotate the camera.

Drag the second icon from the left to move the camera position in parallel.

Drag the third icon from the left to move the camera back and forth.

Drag the 4th icon from the left

You can move the position of the material up, down, left, or right.

If you drag the fifth icon from the left

You can rotate the material according to the dragged direction.

If you drag the 6th icon from the left

You can rotate the material horizontally.

Click the joint you want to move,

Drag the displayed [manipulator] to bend the joint.

Displayed when the entire 3D material is selected

Drag the gray ring of [root manipulator] to

You can change the size of the material.

If you don't handle multiple materials, you only need to remember simple operations.

Use 3D materials for illustrations

The downloaded material will be in the material folder.

If you drag and drop the material onto the canvas, it will be placed on the canvas.

From here, we will adjust according to the picture.

Adjust the size, orientation, angle, and position of the 3D material with the object tool.

Match the illustration.

Once the adjustment is complete, Let's change this material into the line drawing of the illustration.

Extract lines from 3D materials

You can trace the 3D material,

EX version can convert 3D materials to lines with [LT conversion of layer]

This time I will explain how to use that function. It's faster than drawing by yourself.

Select [Layer]→[LT conversion from layer] in the upper left,

If you press the OK button with the [Raster layer] in [Extract line] checked,

A folder containing the outline layer and the background layer will be created.

I was able to make a line drawing without drawing.

However, lines after LT conversion are monochrome binary ,

It is difficult to use for color illustrations.

[Layer property][Expression|color] is changed from [Monochrome] to [Color],

When you run [Filter]→[Blur]→[Smoothing],

It becomes a line with anti-aliasing.

Then, refer to the 3D material and add lines and paint to complete.

Even with lines that are LT converted from 3D materials,

If you color it yourself, it will look like an illustration.

With the object tool selected

You can change the 3D material settings by displaying the [Sub Tool Detail] window.

Check [Affected by light source] in [Shading],

Playing around with the [light source] settings will help you decide how to cast shadows.

You can also extract lines with vector layers,

The lines are often cleaner when exported with a raster layer.

If you want to make it a vector layer,

It is a good idea to output raster and then convert to vector layer.

When extracting lines in the PRO version

There is no [LT conversion of layer] function in the PRO version ,

You can extract the line art manually.

[Sub tool details] Display the outline of the material,

Rasterize the 3D material layer into a normal raster layer.

Change [Expression color] from color to gray in [Layer property].

[Edit]→[Color Correction]→[Brightness/Contrast] to adjust to black and white

If you skip the white part with [Edit] → [Convert brightness to transparency],

I was able to extract only the line drawing part!

CLIP STUDIO ASSETS even with the PRO version

There is also an auto action material that can easily extract line drawings, so please use your favorite method.

let's pose

Add any pose to the 3D material.

With the [Object tool] selected, display the [Sub tool details] window,

Set the items of [Pose].

When you click the goo icon, the 3D material of the hand becomes a goo shape,

Click the par icon to make it look like a par.

You can make fine adjustments by dragging the inside of the triangle.

With this method, you can only operate all fingers together.

If you want to adjust just any finger, fiddle with the joints individually.

Click on the joint you want to tweak,

Drag the displayed [manipulator] to adjust.

In the above video, I was able to pose with my index finger up.

Use pose material

If you find it difficult to adjust by yourself, use pose materials.

This time, I'm going to use cli_pose's "Collection of hand poses".

Select the pose you want to use from the material folder

When you drag and drop it on the 3D material,

The pose changed in an instant. It's quicker and easier than doing it yourself.

If you want to use the set material many times, register the material.

When you drag and drop the material layer to the material folder,

The material is registered.

Now you can call it anytime from the material folder.

Also, if you apply the pose material of the whole body to the 3D material of the hand,

It will be the shape of the hand of that pose properly.

The use cases may be limited, but

I will share it with everyone because it is a TIPS that I noticed after using it.

summary

Since I started using 3D materials, I have stopped even tracing.

It benefits from materials and LT conversion functions.

You can use it as it is, or use it for drawing materials,

Please add 3D materials to your drawing options.

When a female artist wants to draw a handsome hand with a bone,

When a male artist wants to draw a cute girl's moe hand,

When you want to improve the quality of your work even though you don't have time to meet the deadline

I think it will be useful in many situations.

Even in manga, just adding a hand to the frame expands the range of expression, so I recommend it.

That's it.
