HOW TO DRAW DRESSES
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone. this is Nightshade from BM7Creations. I am going to go over drawing dresses for your illustrations and animations.
SHAPES
I start with a sketch of my character and add the basic shape of the clothing I would like to have.
I use a lot of triangles, diamonds, and semi-circles for my dresses.
Adding as many curved angles as possible.
Using the selection tool, I fill in the underside of the exposed fabric for a reference of shadows.
OUTLINE
Using the Airbrush tool, I highlight my characters to ensure I have a great silhouette.
I use the G-pen and Texture pen for the clothing fabric
I make sure there is a sort of hill like effect with my ruffles.
I make sure the shoes are curved inward.
COLOR
I choose my colors to contrast the background I have made (Which is Black), I use bright colors like Orange, Yellow and Green.
I use the water color brush for the skin of my characters, while using G-pen and marker to color.
I color the inside of the dress a darker shade of the same color, and the tie a blue to contrast the black silhouette.
Carefully Color the underside a muted shade of the color for shadows.
TEXTURE
I used the G-pen tool and the color white for a shiny fabric, following the curve of the illustration as seen below.
Taking the Charcoal tool I stamp a lighter shade of red to add texture and highlights to my character’s hair.
To make the illustration full of life and texture, I take the sand material and add that to the canvas, then change the property settings to Overlay
I change the Opacity to 45%, then I add white stars to the backdrop of the illustration.
Using the Airbrush tool I add a glow over the characters.
THE END
I hope this was helpful, Good luck, and have fun.
