In this tutorial I`ll show you how I paint tulips - my favourite spring flowers.

First - Im starting with the sketch ,which is a little bit uncouth and Im even not going to make a new layer with a better lines of the sketch ,like usually ,because my painting will be without lines. The sketch will be only a guide.

Im starting with the lighter colors in the top of the tulips.Im using different layers,so it doesnt matter that Im not starting with the base color or with the shades. The brush here is Pointilism. This is very interesting brush, which is scattered small oval figures, blurred at the edges.

The white lines here are also painted with Pointilism. As you could see the edges of the top of the tulips are a little bit messy. The other part of my flowers is painted with Oil paint brush. This brush leaves a few more transparent layers at the edges ,with the fading direction from the inside out. However,to mix the colors a little more smoothly I use Blend from the Sub Tool.

The darker colors are of the bottom of the tulips and inside of them .For the staments I used yellow, brown and green .To add the finest threads to the flowers I used a very thin brush - size five.

For the leaves I`m using three nuances of the green color ,but I also consider the angle of light that will fall .

You could see the process of blending the colors.

I want for my leaves to have a little shine in places, where light falls. So,in a new layer I choose Add (Glow) from the layers options.Im using a white color and again Im blending it.

For the tulip box background I used Dry Gouache brush ,which is one of my favourite. It has a paper texture ,it is messy ,there are holes and there is a possibility of layering and color saturation.

And we are ready. :)
