A fantasy rewrite is when you take a fantastical beast and change it up just a tiny bit

For example, a very popular one is a peacock griffin, or a lepord griffin

I'm going to show you how to make one of these fantasy rewrites

I'm going to use a griffin as an example, becasue why not?

TO START

To start, chose a size of canvas, and a sketch brush to use

I'm going to take two animals that I want to mix up to make my griffin

I'm using a black panther, and a spatula tailed humming bird

I search my two animals, and then find a picture to use as a reference

Then I highlight the parts I think are most important on a different layer

And then I took these elements and on a seperate sheet of paper, sketched my base

To help with your references, use the subveiw option in the navigator catigory to help

SKETCH

Here is my sketch of the two animals combined:

The sketch is your foundation of your art, make sure to give it all of your thoughts, it WILL be messy, and thats ok!

Now that this is finished, I will add my details into another layer which I will name the 'polished' sketch

Now that we have the sketching part done, let's move onto the inking, the very dreaded INKING

INKING

For my inking I like to use this brush for the smooth and elegant type of beast.

It is an amazing brush set and I do really love to use it! Consider downloading and try it out yourself!!

Now ink your beautiful sketch to turn it into a monocrome masterpeice!!!

Now that we have our mix outline finished, time for some coloring!

COLORING

I'm not so good at auto coloriazation, and thats why I didn't want to do last month tips (also becasue its now june and that would be really weird! OuO)

Ok now that this is settled, let's make shadows and light!
