The [Group work] feature allows multiple users to collaborate on multi-page works.

Note: You cannot use this feature on the tablet or smartphone versions.

Starting from Ver. 1.10.10, you can use the Teamwork function allows multiple users can edit different pages on a single multi-page work file uploaded to the Clip Studio cloud.

The [Teamwork] function can be used on all devices, including tablet and smartphone versions.

For details, please refer to the following.

● When do you use this feature?

This feature allows a manga artist and an assistant(s) to work at the same time.

After an artist finishes drawing the line art, an assistant can draw the backgrounds on the same page, with another assistant applying screen tones, etc.

Sharing (.clip) page files through a file sharing service, e-mail, etc. can cause trouble as you can end up with many page files with the same file name. The file can also become corrupt.

The [Group work] feature prevents accidents like this from occurring.

Required settings for the group work feature

● Checking each user’s digital work environment

Before using the group work feature, please check the digital work environment of each user.

· If group work data is stored in a Windows environment, the group work feature cannot be used on it from a Mac OS X 10.9 computer.

· If group work data is stored in a macOS environment, the group work feature cannot be used on it from a Windows computer.

● Roles: administrators and users

The “administrator” is the person who sets up the files for group work.

Those who are contacted by the administrator and work on the files are the “users.”

● Before starting:

・ Decide on the shared file’s destination and make sure that all users can access to the location.

・ Choose your username for each application.

Group work flow

(1) In order to use the group work feature, the “administrator” uploads a work folder as “collaboration data” to a network server, shared folder, etc.

(2) The “user” editing the work acquires the group work data and creates a “Work folder” on their computer.

([Story] menu > [Group work] > [Obtain group work data])

(3) Each user then edits the page file within their work folder.

(4) Upon completion, each user’s group work data will reflect on the network.

([Story] menu > [Group work] > [Reflect change on group work data])

Administrator: creating the work data

(1) Open the page management file you want to work with.

(2) Select [Story] menu > [Group work] > [Prepare group work data].

(3) Set each item in the [Prepare group work data] dialog box.

・ [Location to create group work data] - Specify the access location for users.

・ [Open only file set for member in charge]

If checked, users can only open the assigned page.

・ [Do not rewrite over group work data]

If checked, users cannot overwrite the group work data.

When the user clicks [Reflect change on group work data], it creates a new folder in the group work folder, and copies the edited page inside the folder.

If the administrator performs [Update work folder], the work folder imports the edited page as conflicting files.

The administrator then performs [Resolve confliction] to reflect the edited work to the group work data.

Only the administrator can specify or cancel the user in charge.

(4) After editing the settings, click [OK] to upload the group work data.

Managing the group work data

● Assigning each page

In this method, the administrator manages all the edits, access to editable pages, and the updating of edited work.

When several people are working on the same project, you can allocate pages to specific users.

You can also lock the pages so that people who are not assigned cannot work on them. This will avoid overlapping work and prevent someone from working on the wrong pages.

Users can leave a comment when they update changes to the shared file, so it is easy to check progress through these logs.

For [Prepare group work data], apply the following settings.

・ [Open only files set for member in charge]: On

・ [Do not rewrite over group work data]: Off

● Assigning each process

In this method, the administrator does not manage access to editable pages but resolves group work file conflictions when they occur.

Multiple users can access the same page to simultaneously work on different parts of the work process. However, conflicts are likely to occur when users try to reflect changes in their group work data.

In this case, the changes need to be merged into one change so that they can combine within the same group work data without conflict.

・ [Open only files set for member in charge]: Off

・ [Do not rewrite over group work data]: On

Note: Administrator conflict resolution

When work is done by one user, the administrator can directly reflect the work data. However, if there are multiple users, the administrator has to arrange the data (move layers, etc.) to create a completed version of the data.

(1) Select [Story] menu > [Group work] > [Open conflicting file], and then open data from user B and C, as well as the original data.

(2) Move the contents of the two users to one file and arrange the data.

(3) Select [Story] menu > [Group work] > [Resolve confliction].

(4) Select the arranged file and click [OK].

Note: This process deletes all other files other than the selected file.

(5) Select [Story] menu > [Group work] > [Reflect change on group work data] to reflect the changes to the group work data.
